Immortalis and Counterspell

Good morning and welcome to another Splinterland Battle Analysis! I hope you enjoy it :-)

We’re dealing with a Silver League Tournament, wild. Rules exclude healing, and they give everyone reflect and cripple.

As you can see, I chose a mostly magic team, despite reflect. That’s because Immortalis gives all my monsters void, so they don’t get damage from reflect as long as their damage isn’t 3 or more.
I chose the lurker in first position, since he can evade a lot of attacks, no matter what kind – and he has taunt. Second is the Slipspawn, as well for taunt, so my weaker monsters will be left alone for a while.

The enemy line-up is very strong, too. Mylor with his thorns as summoner. Grund as tank, then Beatrix Ironhand (which I had never encountered before), Runemancer Florre in the mix Mitica headhunter – not easy to beat those!

First Round: Lurker doesn’t avoid any damage. Only holds off a lot of attacks, and makes it possible to kill Grund in the first round. Ironhand gets killed, too, since her health is not her strong side. Beside Florre, there is not much health left in the enemy team.

In the second round, the Slipspawn gets killed, but the Peryton evades two attacks. Now, the Drybone can kill the Venari, so Florre is in first position now and ends the round with only 3 health left – same as my Peryton.

The Peryton can hurt Florre down to 1 health before getting killed by the headhunter. The Djinn then kills Florre with reflect, and my team can kill the headhunter before the tower can attack. It’s decided.

This shows how effective Immortalis can be in a Reflect-Ruleset. Most of my opponents don’t realize that and go for ranged and melee instead, which isn’t a bad choice either - a little more luck against my peryton, and the game would’ve ended differently.

I hope you enjoy this analysis. If you have comments on strategy or want to show your own posts – just comment, I’ll drop by and leave a comment, too :-)
