Hello everyone in the Foodies community, today I'm back again with a new post to share with you my recent experience. I had never tried Mexican food before and when I visited the restaurant "El Cazador" (where they serve all kinds of Mexican dishes), I was fascinated with the variety of the menu and how everything seemed to be really good. So before I do, I'll put a little bit of context so you can understand how I got there. For those of you who follow me on my blog, you will know that I am doing a special content dedicated to my trip to Las Vegas and this Mexican food experience plays a fundamental role as I consider that during my stay there I was able to learn a lot about their gastronomy and even better, form incredible friendships. So with that said, let's get started.
The first few days I spent in the country I felt quite strange because the whole environment, the people and the actions in general were alien to me. That's not a bad thing in itself, I just think it's a feeling that everyone who is far away from their native home goes through. However, I gradually found comfort when I frequented places where I could feel at home, for example, when I visited some of my sister's friends with my sister and we could talk at length. It was nice. I especially remember a Mexican friend who was very sweet, cheerful and friendly. She made us some shrimp tacos (they had a more specific name, but I don't remember it), accompanied by a side of salsas and nachos. They were delicious, the shrimp was fried with vegetables, dipped in cream, with more fresh vegetables (lettuce, onion and tomato) and the tortilla, crispy and golden. As I have always thought, there is no better way to make friends than sharing a good meal.
Hola a todos en la comunidad de Foodies, el día de hoy vuelvo de nuevo con una nueva publicación para compartir con ustedes mí reciente experiencia y es que nunca antes había probado comida mexicana y cuando visite el restaurante "El Cazador" (dónde sirven todo tipo de platillos mexicanos), quedé fascinada con la variedad del menú y cómo todo parecía ser realmente bueno. Así que antes de ello, los pondré un poquito en contexto para que puedan entender cómo llegué allí. Para quienes me siguen en mí blog, sabrán que estoy realizando un contenido especial dedicado a mi viaje a Las Vegas y esta experiencia de comida mexicana cumple un papel fundamental pues considero que durante mi estadía allí pude conocer mucho sobre su gastronomía y aún mejor, formar amistades increíbles. Así que dicho esto, comencemos.
Los primeros días que pase en el país me sentía bastante extraña pues todo el entorno, la gente y las acciones en general eran ajenas a mí. Eso no es algo malo en si mismo, solo creo que es una sensación que atraviesa todo aquel que está lejos de su hogar nativo. Sin embargo, poco a poco encontré bienestar cuando frecuentaba lugares dónde podía sentirme en casa, por ejemplo, cuando visitaba con mí hermana algunas amistades de ella y podíamos hablar largo y tendido. Era agradable. Recuerdo en especial una amiga mexicana que era bastante dulce, muy alegre y cordial. Ellas nos preparó unos tacos de camarón (tenían un nombre más específico, pero no lo recuerdo), acompañados con una guarnición salsas y nachos. Estaban buenísimos, el camarón estaba sofrito con vegetales, bañado en crema o nata de leche, con más vegetales frescos (lechuga, cebolla y tomate) y la tortilla, crujiente y dorada. Cómo siempre he pensado, no hay mejor forma de hacer amigos que compartiendo un buen plato de comida.
Let's say that this was my first approach and this, the restaurant "El Cazador", was the second but the first in other respects. A Mexican friend of my brother-in-law's family suggested that if we wanted to eat authentic Mexican food we should visit this restaurant. So we took the opportunity to visit the place. Its exact location is: 1108 E Lake Mead Blvd, North Las Vegas, NV 89030, United States. We arrived there and were excellently served. My sister had tried Mexican food before, so she went for a carne asada that comes with beans, rice, fries, jalapeños and of course, beef. I on the other hand wanted to have a seafood soup as I like them a lot and it was typical of the restaurant.
I didn't know that when I ordered the seafood soup I would get such a big bowl. It was soup for two people (hahaha) and it had everything; shrimps, mussels, crab, squid, fish pieces and vegetables like carrot, onion and parsley. For those days when it was so cold, I felt the warmth of the broth like a balm. My sister was also surprised by the amount of food, but that's when we started to share the food. Until finally, we couldn't take it anymore (hahaha). At the same time, it was nice because while we were eating, there was a corrido band playing live music for everyone in the place. You could request a song, pay a tip and they would give you the part. I have a video of them and it was very funny because between songs, they would always come out with a joke to cheer up the audience. We spent about three hours like that, eating, talking and listening to music.
Digamos que ese fue mi primer acercamiento y este, el del restaurante "El Cazador", fue el segundo pero el primero en otros aspectos. Un amigo mexicano de la familia de mi cuñado, nos sugirió que sí queríamos comer auténtica comida mexicana debíamos visitar este restaurante. Así que aprovechamos el momento para ir a conocer el lugar. Su ubicación exacta es: 1108 E Lake Mead Blvd, North Las Vegas, NV 89030, Estados Unidos. Allí llegamos y fuimos atendidos excelentemente. Mi hermana ya había probado antes comida mexicana, así que ella se fue por una carne asada que viene acompañada con frijoles, arroz, papas fritas, jalapeños y por supuesto, la carne de res. Yo por otro lado quise tomar una sopa de mariscos pues me gustan mucho y era algo típico del restaurante.
No sabía que al pedir la sopa de mariscos me traería un plato tan grande. Era sopa como para dos personas (jajaja) y tenía de todo; camarones, mejillones, cangrejo, calamar, pescado en trozos y vegetales cómo zanahoria, cebolla y perejil. Para esos días que había tanto frío, sentí el calor del caldo cómo un bálsamo. Mi hermana también se sorprendió con la cantidad de comida, pero allí fue cuando comenzamos a compartir la comida. Hasta que finalmente, no pudimos más (jajaja). Al mismo tiempo, era agradable porque mientras nosotras comíamos, estaba una banda de corridos que tocaba música en vivo para todos los del lugar. Podías pedir una canción, pagar una propina y ellos te concedían la pieza. Tengo un vídeo de ellos y era muy gracioso porque entre canción y canción, siempre salían con una broma para alegrar a los espectadores. Así pasamos más o menos unas tres horas, entre comer, hablar y escuchar música.
At the end i ordered a coffee and realised that the coffee there is not the same as in my country (hahaha) but I enjoyed it all the same. Night fell and by then we had to go home and say goodbye to the place. I must say that I found the restaurant very nice, with a very typical design of Mexican houses (tiles, windows, tiles, floor, walls), the colours (warm colours everywhere), the decorations (flowers, garlands, pictures with paintings of rural houses), the furniture (wood and leather) and of course, the service, the music and the food. Everything did its job. This is how, my friends, I was able not only to eat and share, but also to get to know a little bit of the Mexican culture I was so intrigued by. Al final pedí un cafecito y comprendí que el café de allá no es igual que el de de mí país (jajaja) pero con todo y eso lo disfrute. Cayó la noche y ya para ese entonces debíamos partir a casa y despedirnos del lugar. Debo decir que me pareció muy bonito el restaurante, con un diseño muy típico de las casitas mexicanas (las tejas, ventanales, azulejos, suelo, paredes), los colores (colores cálidos por todos lados), las decoraciones (las flores, las guirnaldas, los cuadros con pinturas de casas rurales), los muebles (de madera y cuero) y por supuesto, la atención, la música y la comida. Cada cosa cumplió su función. Así es cómo amigos míos, pude no solo comer y compartir, sino conocer un pedacito de la cultura mexicana de la cual tanta intriga me generaba.
