Bill and Melinda Gates filed for divorce after 27 years of marriage, so an Albanian daughter thinks there may still be hope for her parents! Albanian Mom & Dad swear they love each other though! Also Albanians don’t do divorce no matter what!
This came about on the fly with Leonarda. She had previously attempted to film this sketch on her using an iPhone but since we’ve shot so many sketches with legit gear, and have a great working process we decided to reshoot it together as usual! Being that I don’t have all my usual gear with me, specifically the amount of light I generally have with me, I had to MacGyver a lighting setup that would work well in the tight space we had to work with. Also to add, we had just shot a podcast with Brian Holtzman & Brian Redban earlier in the day and attended a comedy show in each Leonarda performed and I photographed. Not too mention all the energy used to drive to these places! So by the time we got into the studio space to record this short sketch we were exhausted. But nothing stops the creative process! I ended up using a single quasar, a ring light, and a led wand to light both the blue screen and Leonarda in camera. To say I was making things stretch would be an understatement but it worked! I used my trusty Panasonic Lumix GH4 and a Rokinon 12mm lens for this. Editing and coloring was all done in DaVinci Resolve. I crafted the cover art using photoshop which I’m slowly getting more comfortable using. I still have a ways to go with learning photoshop but I’m at least I’m on track now.
I was generally impressed with how the video came out considering all of the above. Please let me know what you think of color, editing, and the comedy of Leonarda. You’ll be seeing a lot more of her on the page!
