Many of us who finished watching Shingeki no Kyojin consider that each of its characters had a huge evolution throughout the series, but Eren Jaeger's evolution was huge. Chapter by chapter I witnessed how little Eren went from a whiny, scrawny boy to a member of the Legion of Reconnaissance. In the series we witnessed not only physical changes, but we saw him change completely and what was once a noble heart was now consumed by hatred.

Pero hoy no quiero hablarles tanto de la historia de la serie, sino más bien de una peculiar situación en la cual este personaje se vio envuelto. Resulta ser que una mañana, como otra cualquiera, Eren se despierta en el cuartel de la Legión de Reconocimiento y se dispone a unirse a los demás en el entrenamiento matutino. Pero, ¿cuál sería su sorpresa al ver que alguien había tomado su equipo de maniobras?

Step by step // Paso a paso

As usual, I started the drawing with the head, as it is the main feature of the chibi style. I added some hair sticking out and some strands falling on the forehead. The body is almost completely covered with a long trench coat, shorts and high boots. Only the face, the neck and the hands are uncovered. Nobody can imagine how much work it took me to draw a fist-shaped hand in such a small size.

Como de costumbre, comencé el dibujo por la cabeza, ya que es el rasgo principal del estilo chibi. Agregué algo de cabello sobresaliendo y algunas mechas que caen sobre la frente. El cuerpo lo cubrí casi por completo con una gabardina larga, un pantalón corto y unas botas altas. Solo al descubierto estarán el rostro, el cuello y las dichosas manos. Nadie se imagina cuánto trabajo me dio dibujar una mano cerrada en forma de puño en un tamaño tan reducido.

After the outline, I started adding details to the sketch, such as the face, the folds and divisions of the clothes, among other things. The design of the undershirt is not faithful to the original character's design, but I wanted to try another style to see how it would look and I loved it. After adding all the details, I replaced each line with black ink and erased over the drawing to remove the pencil strokes.

Luego del contorno, empecé a agregar detalles al boceto, tales como el rostro, los pliegues y divisiones de la ropa, entre otras cosas. El diseño de la camisa interior no es fiel al diseño del personaje original, pero quise probar otro estilo a ver cómo se vería y me encantó. Luego de agregar todos los detalles, reemplacé cada línea con tinta negra y borré encima del dibujo para eliminar los trazos del lápiz.

I painted the hair in dark brown, leaving a gradient lighting effect on the front part of the hair, in the shape of an inverted arch. For the eyebrows I used the same color as the hair, but not for the eyelashes, which I painted black, as well as the pupils. On the eyes I used a gradient of three variations of bright green to get a nice crystallized effect.

I painted the skin a light peach color, intensifying this same color in the shadow areas of the hair. I used the same color for the neck and hands.

El cabello lo pinté de café oscuro, dejando un efecto de iluminación por degradado en toda la parte frontal de este y con forma de arco invertido. Para las cejas utilicé el mismo color del pelo, pero no para las pestañas, las cuales pinté de negro, al igual que las pupilas. En los ojos utilicé un degradado de tres variaciones de verde brillante para obtener un bonito efecto cristalizado.

La piel la pinté de color durazno claro, intensificando este mismo color en las zonas de sombra del cabello. Utilicé el mismo color para el cuello y las manos.

Then I moved on to the wardrobe, which in the upper part I painted with a combination of light brown and dark tan, trying to respect the original color scale. In the lower part I was a little more creative and opted to leave the white pants and dark brown boots with black and light brown details.

Luego pasé al vestuario, el cual en la parte superior pinté con una combinación de café claro y un bronceado oscuro, tratando de respetar la escala de colores original. En la parte inferior sí fui un poco más creativo y opté por dejar los pantalones blancos y las botas café oscuro con detalles en negro y café claro.

In the case of the uniform insignia, I was only going to paint the one on the shoulders, but since I didn't have enough space, I decided to paint the patches green with some black wings inside. To finish, I used the black color and went over some original strokes, which were hidden by applying color on top. I also added a shadow below the character to remove the sensation of floating in the air.

En el caso de las insignias del uniforme, solo iba a plasmar la de los hombros, pero al no contar con espacio, decidí pintar los parches de verde con unas alas negras dentro. Para finalizar, utilicé el color negro y repasé algunos trazos originales, los cuales quedaron ocultos al aplicar color encima. También agregué una sombra debajo del personaje para quitar la sensación de que está flotando en el aire.
