Bendecida tarde mis apreciados amigos artesanos y creativos de NeedleWorkMonday, espero se encuentren muy bien. Esta semana he estado muy ocupada con asuntos personales por lo que no he podido estar tan activa en la comunidad como de costumbre. No obstante, hoy decidí tomar algo de tiempo para compartir con ustedes algunos proyectos que realice hace mucho tiempo, antes de que iniciara mi camino en Hive.

Blessed afternoon my dear NeedleWorkMonday crafty and creative friends, I hope you are doing well. This week I have been very busy with personal matters so I have not been able to be as active in the community as usual. However, today I decided to take some time to share with you some projects that I made a long time ago, before I started my journey in Hive.

Hace días estuve tratando de recuperar fotos antiguas en mi viejo computador, fue así como me encontré con una carpeta de fotos de viejos proyectos a crochet. Ver estas fotos me emocionó mucho, doy gracias a Dios que existen las fotografías digitales que nos permiten guardar nuestros recuerdos, porque en realidad hubo muchos proyectos que no recordaba. Me sorprendí de la cantidad de cosas que he tejido en mi vida y es hermoso tener un registro fotográfico de todo ello.

A few days ago I was trying to recover old photos on my old computer, that's how I found a folder of photos of old crochet projects. Seeing these photos made me very excited, I thank God that there are digital photos that allow us to save our memories, because in reality there were many projects that I did not remember. I was surprised at how many things I have knitted in my life and it is beautiful to have a photographic record of it all.

Me di cuenta de que antes de iniciar mi blog de Hive, solía hacer proyectos grandes, recuerdo que en época de verano bajaba todas las tardes al jardín de la urbanización con una silla reclinable, un pequeño refrigerio y mi cesta de hilos y agujas a tejer bolsos, tops, tapetes y todo lo que no implicara seguir un tutorial. Era maravilloso estar en medio de las plantas, escuchando música, tejiendo y disfrutando de las tardes soleadas. Los proyectos grandes me relajaban mucho pues no tenía prisa alguna.

En temporada de invierno tejía en la pequeña salita del apartamento, tomando chocolate caliente y viendo una telenovela turca en compañía de mi hermana y mi hija. En aquel tiempo tejíamos gorros y bufandas para vender. No tengo idea de la cantidad exacta de gorros que tejí mientras estuve viviendo en Lima, pero si recuerdo los más llamativos y diferentes. Elaboré algunos sets de gorros y bufandas para niños con los colores del uniforme escolar y también hice algunas mantas y ponchos.

I realized that before I started my Hive blog, I used to do big projects, I remember that in summer time I would go down every afternoon to the garden of the housing development with a reclining chair, a small snack and my basket of yarn and needles to knit bags, tops, rugs and anything that didn't involve following a tutorial. It was wonderful to be in the middle of the plants, listening to music, knitting and enjoying the sunny afternoons. Big projects were very relaxing for me because I was not in a hurry.
In the winter season I would knit in the small living room of the apartment, drinking hot chocolate and watching a Turkish soap opera with my sister and daughter. At that time we knitted hats and scarves to sell. I have no idea of the exact number of hats I knitted while living in Lima, but I do remember the most striking and different ones. I made some sets of hats and scarves for children with the colors of the school uniform and I also made some blankets and ponchos.

Un proyecto que recuerdo mucho y que me hace sentir muy orgullosa es mi mantel tejido en punto de cruz con la imagen de la Virgen. Este mantel lo tejí durante la confinación por la pandemia. En esa época tejer y orar me ayudaron mucho a calmar la incertidumbre y la ansiedad causada por tal situación. Durante la pandemia también tejí una manta formada a partir de un cuadrado granny, esta manta la inicié con restos de lanas y luego fui comparando más material hasta lograr una gran cobija.

A project that I remember a lot and that makes me feel very proud is my cross stitch tablecloth with the image of the Virgin Mary. I knitted this tablecloth during the pandemic confinement. At that time knitting and praying helped me a lot to calm the uncertainty and anxiety caused by such a situation. During the pandemic I also knitted a blanket made from a granny square, this blanket I started with wool scraps and then I was comparing more material until I got a large blanket.

Ver las fotos de mis primeros amigurumis me hicieron recordar que no me gustaba para nada hacer muñecos pequeños, por lo que solía duplicar las puntadas para agrandar los patrones que encontraba en la web. Elaboré muñecos para mis hijos, mis sobrinos, algunos vecinitos y por supuesto una muñeca para mí. Mi mayor frustración con esta muñeca fue bordar sus ojos, por eso, al final decidí colocarle 2 botones de madera y así quedó muy parecida a Coraline.

Seeing the pictures of my first amigurumis made me remember that I didn't like making small dolls at all, so I used to duplicate the stitches to enlarge the patterns I found on the web. I made dolls for my children, my nephews, some neighbors and of course a doll for me. My biggest frustration with this doll was embroidering her eyes, so in the end I decided to put 2 wooden buttons on her and she looked very much like Coraline.

Elaboré muchos bolsos y cartucheras, pero sin duda la que más me ha gustado ha sido mi cartuchera de corazones elaborada en la técnica Tapestry Crochet, ya que fue mi primer proyecto tejido con esta técnica y creo que me quedó muy lindo. Cada proyecto tejido tiene una historia particular y me recuerda momentos especiales de mi vida, por eso cuando entregamos un proyecto tejido también entregamos un pedacito de nosotros mismos y de nuestra historia personal. Si mis tejidos hablaran dejarían al descubierto un pedazo de mi alma.

Viajar al pasado y regresar feliz es una bendición y esto es lo que me pasa cada vez que veo todo lo que he creado desde que me encontré con este maravilloso arte. Gracias por leer, saludos y bendiciones.

I made many bags and pencil cases, but without a doubt the one I liked the most was my heart pencil case made with the Tapestry Crochet technique, since it was my first project knitted with this technique and I think it turned out very nice. Each knitted project has a particular story and reminds me of special moments in my life, so when we deliver a knitted project we also deliver a little piece of ourselves and our personal history. If my weavings could speak they would reveal a piece of my soul. To travel to the past and come back happy is a blessing and this is what happens to me every time I see everything I have created since I came across this wonderful art.
