We arrived at the meetup hotel a little after 10am, so with our gas and food stops, the drive from Brooklyn to Michigan took about 14 hours. It felt so nice to get out of the car and stretch out!
I ran a quick shopping mission at Walmart while the two others in our car showered at the hotel before 11am checkout. Then our group of 7 stopped for a big brunch before heading into the campsite together.
We have three vehicles and four tents for our Camp Sherwook this year. We got a tough break with our campsite location. Even though we arrived kind of early on Wednesday, the area they were filling at the time is about as far a walk as possible to the entrance gate.
I guess for actifit (and calorie burning), this will mean more steps and higher tallies. But it is already hot and humid here this weekend, I would have been just fine without the extra quarter mile on each trip into the venue.
After setting up camp, we spent a few hours hanging out by the after party stages. We got to hear Super Future and Tripp St. before I headed back to camp. Thankfully, I was in bed before midnight and got a great night of sleep until 9.30am.
I don't anticipate another full night of sleep until Monday. Luckily, service is playable even during midday, but I'm not sure how much longer that will last. Until next time...
