The 12 apostels road. Go or no go?

One of the things the Capetown region is known for is the scenic roads on the peninsula. Especially on the west side going on down there is a route passing through towns as Camps bay heading towards Hout bay is one that is just really nice.

Here you also have the mountainridge on the backside of table mountain which is called the road of the '12 Apostels'. Tons of people pass by just to look at this. But is it actually worth it?

Camps bay can be extremely windy since it is on the side of the Atlantic ocean. This means the wind has enough time to accumulate some speed and roar over the beach bringing literally gigantic waves with it.

Yes it can be an trecherous environment but on the other hand if you take a step back and look towards the mountains, that is when you see them.

The 12 apostels gazing over the ocean as if they are keeping watch in what comes into the country. Coming from the Hout bay side this is now not that impressive if you ask me. It just looks like some big ol' stones without even a big pattern in there.

But passing the part and the looking back towards the Apostels..especially with the sun setting in the background. That is where the magic starts.

I also had the priviledge to check out these apostels gazing from the sea while boating around for a little bit. This was also mid day and that also meant that the lighting was totally different.

Also super nice, but just really different. As said the road is the thing that makes it special. I was very much underwhelmed by Camps bay, even though this is like the outdoor fancy spot for Capetown city peoplw to hang out in. It is just a lot of high rise built on cliffs, and no option for beaching unless your staying in one of these overpriced places.

    Thanks but no thanks.

But if you are in the region and are considering passing by here. Really do so around sunset time when the light is awesome. But also realize yourself that on this peninsula there are a lot of pretty places also like the chapmans peaks pass to drive over.

The general suggestion from my side is. Get a car and drive around at random. And when you have a bit more time. Rent a boat and make sure you don't get sea stick because these oceans are rough.

But the 12 apostels the question yay or nay. I would surely say a yay because it is beautiful. Just don't forget to combine it with other beautiful stuff!.
