Weekend dedicated to walking and discovering the magnificence of some important monumental works of art, the cathedral and the castle of Frederick of Swabia. The city of Trani has always been an important naval crossroads, in fact in the Middle Ages it was a fundamental hub for transport to Greece and the countries of North Africa, which is why it has always attracted considerable interest from Italian and foreign sovereigns.

An important religious movement was also concentrated here, a cultural exchange with different communities that still exist integrated into civilization. The cathedral or Duomo was built at the beginning of the first millennium and is made up of three churches on three different floors: the oldest is located exactly below sea level, it is a church that dates back to the first centuries AD and today is accessible through a narrow and steep stone staircase.

The highest church, about 5 meters above sea level, is also the largest and most recent. Citizens' weddings are usually celebrated here and the size of the church is such that it can accommodate a few hundred people. The bell tower is the highest in the city with over 50 meters in height, reachable via a steep and tiring spiral staircase but the view from up there is truly exceptional.

The square in front of the cathedral is a large expanse that surrounds the entire church, a sacred territory but which often lends itself to musical concerts. Imagine seeing a concert by one of your favorite artists and the background is the cathedral lit up specifically in the evening hours... A jewel for the eyes.

Not far from the cathedral, stands an imposing military structure from the Middle Ages, the castle of Frederick II of Sveva, a mighty structure located in the sea, one of the king's royal residences and today it has become an important museum, open to the public, where it is possible visit the king's large rooms and the large courtyard, beyond the mighty guard towers that made the castle impregnable during enemy attacks.

A wonderful sunny day with the most beautiful backdrop I could truly imagine.
