Youth ministry is unique in every aspect of evangelism and ministry. Since the next generation of Christians is mostly determined by the spiritual growth and development of the youth, it is common to see them as the church's future.
Although we're living in a world where youths run away from ministry because of the mindset they grew up.
Youth ministry in the shadow of Jesus means that Every youth should endeavour to be like Jesus and teach like Him. Youth ministry in the shadow of Jesus is about making other disciples who could also make other disciples.
According to Matthew 28: 19,20 (the great commission) Christ sent us to proclaim his gospel here on earth. This commission was not really for the aged but for us youths.The youth ministry us not just for specific people, it is for everyone. God did not give the gift of ministry to anyone special
They are different ways we can take to succeed in the youth ministry.
Steps to make disciples as a youth missionary
- Go: Inorder to make disciples , youths are commanded to get to people around them that are not Christians and preach the gospel.
- Teach: Before we teach other disciples you should learn the word of God themselves.
- Baptize: Baptism is a testimony that one is death to sin. You baptize after they are being taught.
Why do we do youth ministry ?
- It is because we love God and we also love people
We do this not because of our own selfish interests because of the love we have for God and for other people who are not Christians. - Youths are sheep without a Shepherd.
- The youth ministry is about becoming a shepherd to a lost sheep. Yes it's involves becoming a shepherd to the non Christians and those who do not know God
What is required of a youth leader ?
- Guard your heart; make sure your heart is all about following Jesus Christ. Your heart too should be centered with gospel
- Be relational; we should try to communicate to other youths and relate so well with them.
- Be visionary youth need to have a creative vision in order to live well
