Nature-Inspired Crochet: Crafting Autumn Leaves in Macro and Micro Styles

in voilk •  25 days ago

Inspired by nature's changing colours, I decided to crochet autumn leaves in both macro and micro styles using the same pattern.

With some leftover cords and 6.5 mm needle , I made a set of coasters, and using fine threads and .60 mm needle, I crafted earrings from the same design.

I love how working with both large and tiny needles teaches control and engages the muscles in my fingers differently.

Micro crochet requires more focus, with hands steady to create the delicate details—it’s definitely more strenuous on the eyes.

But the result is more intricate!

It also requires much more care in tucking the ends, especially if you use a few colours, or your work will get undone.

In contrast, regular crochet is more relaxing, though both methods result in beautiful pieces, each with their own charm.

These coasters can also be hanging and decorative.

Completing each project is so satisfying, especially knowing they’re useful and bring that lovely autumn touch to everyday life.

Autumn leaves. Here's how I made it!

    Instructions:

    Start with a magic ring.
Round 1: Ch 1 (does not count as a stitch), work 6 sc into the ring. Pull the ring tight. Join with a sl st to the first sc. (6 sts)

Round 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each stitch around. Join with a sl st to the first sc. (12 sts)

    Leaf Points:

    First Point:
    2dc, 2tr.

    Picot stitch

    2tr, 2dc,
skip st, Sl st into the next stitch.

    Reapeat four more times.

    Stem

After finishing the last point, ch 13. Sl into the 4 chain from the hook to creat a loop for hanging. Sl st back into the ring to join.

Fasten off and weave in the ends.

You can use any size of yarn with a corresponding needle.

See how tiny the microcrochet is!

I hope this inspired you to try them.

Wishing you all a lovely day!
