    Why to invest in stocks

This book is a real classic: Philip A. Fisher on "Common Stocks & Uncommon Profits". It deals with the principles of value investing, which Warren Buffett also follows. The book was published in 1958, over six decades ago.

The following quote can be found directly on page 1 of the first chapter, where Fisher first explains what the book is about:

„after hearing more and more about inflation, you desire something which will be safe and yet protected from further shrinkage in the buying power of the dollar.“

That‘s Bitcoin, isn‘t it? At least it made me associate the cryptocurrency right away when I read this.

    Simple and Complex

When you scroll through the book it also reminds me of all the complexity there is, or better there was about investing. All those questions you have to find an answer to:

    „What to buy?“
    „When to buy?“
    „When to sell?“
„How to find a Growth Stock?“

It‘s so much easier today to have one asset and you buy it as soon as you have some cash available, you do DCA, and you can hold it literally forever as it will conserve and grow your monetary energy over time. That could be Bitcoin but it also could be an ETF on the S&P 500 or the MSCI World index. Things in the investment world have improved a lot since the 1950s, haven‘t they?

How do you think about it? Do you know Fisher and read his book?
