The reward for a long walk

Walking the Struffelt was great for the body but the same as well demand some more liquid and food. See this at my other post.

So, on the way back home, we found this nice small place with local drinks (Belgium beer) and local food (Belgian cheese) - seems to be a logical stop. ;-)

    Val-Dieu

I showed the Val-Dieu beer already a few times as this is a true gem among Belgian abbey beers.

They offering a delightful blend of quality and authenticity. Brewed within the historic walls of the Abbaye du Val-Dieu, this beer stands out for its rich, complex flavors and meticulous craftsmanship. The Val-Dieu Grand Cru, for instance, boasts dark, rich cherry notes with an impressive depth and a surprisingly drinkable 10.5% ABV. Its aroma is a captivating mix of yeasty alcohol and dark fruits, while the taste reveals layers of plummy and fig-based flavors, backed by candied sugar and yeasts. The mouthfeel is full and silky, making it an absolute pleasure to drink.

The Val-Dieu Triple is another standout, characterized by its deep and velvety bitterness that harmonizes beautifully with notes of aromatic hops and a subtle alcoholic touch. It's a noble beer, perfect for accompanying refined dishes and deserving of a place on the most distinguished tables.

Today I went for the well known Val-Dieu blonde as this is a tasty and lower alc beer which you get at many places in Belgium.

Overall, Val-Dieu beers are a testament to the brewery's commitment to tradition and excellence, making them a must-try for any beer enthusiast.

With other words - a must try!!

    Shots on the way

After walking the Struffelt some nice spots my thirsty eye found some more cool spot to picture.

    The old train station

What a lovely place to hang out. Sadly the small bar was closed that day.

    Beer‘n‘cheese

As I said, walking and watching creates a fair amount of thirst and makes you hungry.

A little snack on the way helped a lot.
