Acting out of place is something many of us have experienced at one time or another. The pressure to achieve a goal or accomplish something we want so badly can lead us to act in ways we never would have imagined. In my case, I remember a time when I was forced to act with determination and determination to achieve what I wanted.

A few years ago, I worked in a bank, and I was in a situation where I wanted to get a promotion. I had been working hard and felt it was time to be recognized for my efforts and dedication. However, I knew that my immediate boss was hiding my evaluations and so I needed to stand out in some way to get what I wanted.

I used to frequently perform tasks and was living on autopilot as I was starting to experience a deep apathy and believed that nothing could get better.

It was at that moment that I decided to act out of my usual calm demeanor and take actions that no one would have expected from me. I decided to be more direct and proactive in my pursuit of advancement, not waiting for opportunities to simply present themselves. I began to take the lead on important financial-related projects that no one else wanted to do, to offer innovative ideas to the vice president of credit, and to excel in everything I did.

In addition, I made it a point to interact more with key people in the company, including the president of the institution, making connections and showing my interest in growing within the organization. I knew I needed to be bolder and riskier if I wanted to achieve my goal, and that's exactly what I did.

Finally, after months of effort and dedication, I got what I wanted, I was offered something better than the promotion I was longing for: I was given the opportunity to create a new department in the bank, the Consumer Credit Department of which I would be the Manager.

Although it was a difficult path and I had to act in a way that was not my usual style, I am proud to have made that decision and to have achieved more than I wanted to. I felt that I was overcoming my fears and that I had more self-confidence which would help me to face and act in any future risky situation that might arise in my new job as Department Manager. I felt proud to have a position in which I could help to improve the quality of life of people, since I was able to provide financing for goods that would make daily life easier, such as refrigerators, stoves, and computers, and I was even able to finance some urgent medical expenses.

My former boss was upset at my promotion because he is the type of person who does not like to see others rise if there is no benefit to him. I have encountered many such people in my career path.

Acting out of character can be necessary in certain situations to achieve our goals and much more. Sometimes, it is necessary to step out of our comfort zone and risk doing things we would never have imagined. In my case, it was an enriching experience that taught me that sometimes it is necessary to be brave and determined to achieve our goals.

This is my second participation this week and it is related to the following topic:

Not Like Me: Have you ever acted out of character just to achieve one goal? You did something no one would have expected of you simply because you were so invested on getting what you wanted? What was it you wanted? What did you do? How did things end up?

    Best regards to all.
