Saving for raining days a good part to financial liberty

By the time am done with my SSCE exam, I will go get a job rather than staying at home and whatever am paid, eighty percent (80%) of my money would be for savings while the other twenty percent (20%) for my upkeep this was my conversation with my school mates when we were writting our final year exam from highschool. We all were asking ourselves what we would be doing before gaining admission to further and honestly everyone's idea was brilliant just as I have stated mine earlier.🤣 Please don't mind my laugh because just as I wanted, after the exam my uncle helped me secure a place to work and I was very happy to execute my plan.

Though I was kind of sad because the work warrant I come on Sundays which I really don't like but again the payment is juicy like a whole twenty thousand naira (20k) all for me with nobody to tell me its for this or that i was still willing to do the work sha .😜 I went back home and told my Mom I would be saving 15k then use 5k to buy my cream and use part for transportation since I always get little tips from favorite customers, transport fare wasn't going to be an issue for me. Lo and behold when I collected my first salary I automatically became a big girl and immediately forgot I said I would be saving. I waited for Sunday after the close of work and zoom I found myself in sabo market here in kaduna state buying all the buyables. first I visited the thrift stand because they were extremely cheap then a pair of jean trouser was about five hundred naira (₦500) and from their I bought one quality trouser for 5k two top and pair of slippers.🤣 I was buying all this with a happy face but as soon as I got home and check my balance oh sorry my change not balance again, I wept.

After that I decided to be writing my budget so I know what to do first as soon as my pay comes in but it didn't work out 😭 infact 20k became chicken change to me before i close my eyes and open it the money is gone with the wind then I know it takes only determination for a plan to be executed. The Almighty rich ene was now becoming broke before the end of the month and going to work because so stressful because I always say to myself what's the essence of working if there is nothing to show forth at the end.😞

On this particular day, I was going home with a colleague of mine and we got talking along the line he told me his strategy of saving so he won't spend unnecessary. First he said as soon as his pay comes in, the first thing he does is to split his money into there half one for savings, the other part for upkeep while the third part goes for his family Indeed wisdom is profitable I said. The next month I wrote down a list of what I needed and when salary came I slashed mine into four parts one for savings, two parts for what I budgeted and the other part I gave my mom. As time goes by I really enjoyed this method and I reduced my spending habit so I later split mine into three parts as well and it worked real good. This method I inculcated and till date it is working for me some months even pass and making my hair or buying clothes is not even in my agenda I rather save than use it for what is perishable.🤣🤣😂
