The Wings Of Luck [Poetry]

Eyes bright and eager, Mandy must hear a duck's tale,
Her smiles sparkling, the sweetest story forms without an ale
By a quiet pond lives a most-proud duck
With rainbow feathers that brings many a one luck

His owner, ever so-proud displays it for all
A gold coin or two spurs his gall
Handing out rainbow feathers for the people's luck
While his duck struts about happily clucking
He spends generously on ales and pretty lasses

Many days thence, duck meets the greedy eyes of a farmer
Strutting proudly, it shows off the wings of luck
Farmer sees its baked meat on his dinner plate
And lures it into his farm with peas and oats
Until the duck glimpses the glinting sharp knife

    Duck clucks, flaps and squawks
It's palmate feet thudding the ground
As it waddled for miles through mucky ponds
Refusing to be the delicious meat on the farmer's plate
But farmer dashes in pursuit after the poor duck

Thorns and thickets can't hold the poor duck back
The beautiful rainbow feathers is it's pride and the luck of many
If taken away, the world would be grey and dreary
And he won't ever strut or cluck around proudly.

This poem was inspired by the #dailyprompt word “pluck the duck”. What meaning do you make of these verses? I'll gladly welcome your thoughts in the comments.
