Deluge, Grain Run, Snow, Empty Barrels, Chiro, New Furnace Fan, Troubleshooting, Kraken, Practice - Monday

The weather just won't quit. I was up at 4am yesterday morning to see the eves flowing water and when I popped open the doppler it showed me this. It matched what I was seeing out the windows for sure. I got out of the house and headed to town in the deluge of rain.

The streets were flowing with run off and I was glad to not have other traffic around so I could mob through the puddles. I got to the Steam Plant and saw ZERO homeless, which is a rarity especially given the warmer temps. I guess they don't like the rain.

I had 4 barrels waiting which had soaked up a good bit of rain so were nice and heavy.

They all got loaded onto the trailer and strapped down tight for the ride back to the farm.

I stopped for gas on the way which thankfully the price has been going down some. This shitty state and the taxes are insanity.

I was 2 miles from home when the rain turned to snow and some HUGE flakes were falling.

I got to the house and it was rain, but at the top of the property it was snow. Just 90 foot elevation difference and it was snow or rain.

It was 36F for all this so the snow didn't really stick for long since then it spent much of the morning raining. I emptied out the rain gauge at .5 inch.

I needed to empty the grain out of the barrels and as I went to go do so the doppler looked like this. The darkest parts are the heavier rainfall and we were right under it. Figures.

The first place I had dumped grain in the fall was the potato garden so it had time to get munched on by the animals. I figured a second coating would be fine as I needed a place to spread the grain. It took the birds until late in the day to find it though.

I went to my chiro appointment which did help my neck though it is still being a pain. On the way home I stopped at North 40 to pickup dog food and new fog lights for my truck.

It wasn't until coming back from picking the boys up from school that the mail had delivered. The new fan for the furnace had arrived and I quickly got it installed on the furnace.

The fan went in super easy and started up like it was supposed to. BUT.... the main blower fan would not shut off. I spent the next couple hours troubleshooting the thing off and on as I had to climb into the attic to get to it. In the end I think it was just the high limit switch needed to reset which it finally did.

The burners popped to life and the furnace once again began to blow heat. Though the house was too warm from the fireplace for it to come on until just a few minutes ago.

The Kraken played and lost. It wasn't really close and they are falling fast out of any chance of post season.

I got dinner ready and us fed then took R to wrestling practice. Still a couple weeks to the first tournament so he has time to get better and practice more.

After school while I was working on the fan J decided to make a batch of tortillas and they came out pretty good. He made them a lot bigger than I do but that is fine, they are still delicious.

I picked R up from practice then got out to soak. The chlorine kills the staph and other possible bacteria picked up from the mats.

The heater came on this morning and seems to be working normally, YAY! I crossed the 24K HP mark this morning on my way to 30K by the end of the year. PDC Players championship is on right now as I finish this post, then today I will water in the greenhouse, go check the creek level in the tunnel, boys to and from school, keep cleaning up around the farm, then I'll come up with something for dinner tonight.
