My fight against sachet water nylons popularly called Pure water in Nigeria. My cleanplanet activity for today.

Last week I wrote about the ever growing plastic pollution in Nigeria and how nobody seems to care, with little effort made at promoting recycling by the government and plastic companies. I mentioned different types of common plastic that are mostly common agent of pollution and the most popular among them is the sachet water nylons popularly called Pure water. My biggest worry is that it is everywhere in the country because it is cheap and affordable by almost everyone. Plus it is water, everyone drinks water. And there are no means or access to recycling them. People prefer paying attention to recycling plastic bottles because they know they can get some money, some even do it as an hustle, but no one is paying attention to picking up and recycling this sachet water nylons since there are not incentive or means available to them.

I didn't quite notice this issue when I was at home because we drink from our tap water that is stored and refrigerated in used plastic bottles, but since I came to school and noticed the only means of drinkable water is either the sachet water or plastic bottle water and most students resort in buying the sachet water because it's cheaper. This sachet water is always littered everywhere around the hostel and breeze even blows it out. So today I decided to start picking them up from my floor to the remaining 3 floors in the hostel as my little part in getting this sachet water nylons disposed properly.
