X Metrics Report: Impressions Doubled This Week

    I'm always eager to see how my posts on X have performed in the past 7 days. This week, I'm ecstatic to announce that my impressions have more than doubled!

    That's right. One week ago today, the previous 7-day impressions were a rock solid 2,337. This week, impressions for the last 7 days were 4,764. That's a 108 percent increase.

    Other metrics that improved since last week include Profile Visits, which rose 8.3 percent to 13, and Media Views, which rose 335 percent to 348 impressions.

    Declined metrics since last week were:

    • Engagement rate, down 65 percent to 3.5 percent
    • Link clicks, down 50 percent to 6
    • New followers, down 77 percent to 9 (last week, I had 40 new followers)
    • Replies, down 35 percent to 26
    • Likes, down 28 percent to 53
    • Reposts, down 36 percent to 16

    I consider this a big win. After all, metrics can't decline if they're not topping out. Since last week was a stellar week, I expected a decline this week in most of the metrics. What I did not expect was the 108 percent increase in impressions. Let's take a closer look at impressions and engagements in the past week.

    Impressions and Engagement

    In the last 28 days, I saw 10.1 thousand impressions on my posts. That's a pretty good jump. 5,000 of those impressions were in the last 7 days. That's impressive.

    On Friday, February 2, my posts saw 1,205 impressions. On Tuesday, January 30, they saw 842 impressions. Every day but two saw more than 300 impressions. It gets me giddy inside.

    Engagement rate in the past 7 days stands at 3.6 percent. The day with the highest engagement was Wednesday, January 31 with 5.2 percent. The next day, February 1, saw an engagement rate of 5.1 percent. 4 days out of 3 were above the average.

    Link clicks and retweets this past week were 4 and 13, respectively. Again, I didn't share a lot of links this past week, so that's one reason that metric slumped. The best day for retweets was yesterday, with 4.

    As for likes, while not as good as the previous week, my posts did see 45 likes. That averages to about 6 per day. The best day was Thursday, February 1 with a total of 9 likes. My posts saw 8 likes on January 30. Overall, likes were fairly evenly distributed over the 7-day period. That is, until the weekend.

    The number of replies this week wasn't spectacular, but not abysmal either. It was rather average, with 17 replies, or 2 per day on average. The best day for replies was Friday, February 2 when my posts saw 6 total replies.

    Now let's take a look at the top posts.

    Top Posts

    I always like seeing which of my posts were the top posts for the week. This past 7 days, the post with the most impressions saw 168 impressions. Contrast that with the previous week when the top post saw 171 impressions. The post with the most impressions was published on February 3 and included a meme that highlights who owns and controls the content on social media platforms.

    The post with the second highest number of impressions saw 46, and the third highest was 45. Published on January 31, a long post introducing 15 of the best Hive front ends was the post with the second highest number of impressions. That post links to the original publication on Paragraph, my newsletter, but it got a lot more attention on Hive where it was repurposed for that audience.

    The post with the third highest number of impressions was published on February 4 and featured a meme about Hive.

    While my posts saw a lot of views this week, they didn't see a lot of engagement. Tied at 8 engagements each, the two posts that ranked second and third in impressions ranked first with number of engagements. The post with the second highest number of engagements, at 6, was an @actifit post.

    Ranked third with 5 engagements, a short post on what raising children of my own made me realize about my father, published on February 3, took the prize.

    Engagement rate was a different matter. The post with the highest engagement rate was the aforementioned Actifit post, which saw an engagement rate of 22.2 percent.

    The second highest engagement rate was 17.8 percent and the third was 17.4 percent. These were realized by the posts with the third and second most impressions, respectively.

    Overall, I'd say the posts with the most impressive stats this week were two posts about Hive. One was a meme and one was a long post. One linked to my newsletter. The other linked to Amazon.com and promoted by book on Web3 social media. They were second and third in number of impressions, tied for first in number of engagements, and ranked second and third in engagement rate for the week.

    There is always something to learn from looking at my X metrics. What I should be learning is how to better construct posts that see more impressions and engagements. Whether I learn that lesson or not remains to be seen.
