Our next spotlight is on a Scribe who has been with us since the very beginning. Someone who earned a spotlight the first year, and I'm happy to report has earned one again. A Scholar first, but don't think their Scribe's pen has gone dry. It is with great honor that I present to you... 🥁🥁🥁

@wrestlingdesires has arguably the best handle on Hive, which is half the work, really. 😇 As a Scholar he is always there with helpful tips or words of encouragement. His activity in the community has been obvious since day one. And that is worth commending. 👏👏👏
As a Scribe, WD (that's what I call him cause we cool like that ya know) likes to tackle the fantastical. Stories outside of contemporary fiction. He is also known to partake in the gruesome and ghoulish alike. Let's take a gander at some of his works, shall we? 😌
The first work I wanted to showcase was a piece titled Mother's Loving Advice. A heartwarming piece with an air of mischief we can all relate to. Well, at least I can. 😅 The story captures what it's like to misbehave without being telly or preachy. Something only a seasoned Scribe can manage.
Another thing I love about this story is its adventurous nature. How it comes off as innocent with little words. No wasted page time, just direct actions. I love stories that are paced like this, and @wrestlingdesires did a marvelous job at it here.
Bobby did just that, then began to make his way back. "I think the tide's starting to go out. It's trying to push me away from shore, instead of pulling me back. I better kick harder, or I'll have to call for help. Then Mom is sure to hear about it. And that's hoping I can be heard."
I love this next piece because it's very noir-esque. Princesses and Handcuffs. It's also not writing in Third-Person limited, which is always refreshing to me. The semi-Domitian perspective allows the author to play with the detective storyline in ways other perspectives lack. The way WD (yes, that's what I call him, deal with it) leverages this tool shows that he has been writing for a looong time.
A middle aged man rubbed the thick, dark hair on his chin. "Perhaps, Fiona. We aren't sure if it's connected yet, though. A place a few hours out of town was robbed yesterday. There are a few similarities, especially in how the residence was entered."
Even though we mostly talked about his writing excellence, @wrestlingdesires got this spotlight mostly for his diligent and poignant engagement. He has won so many Scholar Showcases that it's not funny anymore. But in all seriousness, I wanted to say this Spotlight is well-earned. I am happy to have someone as passionate about the craft be a part of our community. 😊
