Hola mi querida familia de NeedleworkMonday, espero que este muy bien y estén celebrando porque un nuevo mes llegó a nuestras vidas y ya podemos hacer un repaso de lo que hemos hecho, lo que dejamos a mitad de camino y así reacomodar nuestras ideas para continuar con lo realmente importante. Ya todos sabemos que el tiempo se pasa volando así que si antes empezábamos hacer cosas para la navidad en septiembre ahora tenemos que empezar como en Julio o agosto más o menos.

Ya llegó Julio y con él muchas fechas que las manualistas debemos celebrar, sabías que el 12 de Julio se celebra “El día mundial de tejido en público” y el 30 de julio las bordadoras también celebran su día; esto me encanta porque yo amo todas las manualidades, amo tejer, amo bordar y amo coser.

July has arrived and with it many dates that we handcrafters should celebrate, did you know that on July 12 is celebrated "The world day of knitting in public" and on July 30 embroiderers also celebrate their day; I love this because I love all crafts, I love knitting, I love embroidery and I love sewing.

Lo bueno de tener el conocimiento de estas tres artes es poder combinarlas en una sola manualidad, por ejemplo en la costura se me ha hecho útil, ya que a veces hago aplicaciones bordadas con punto festón o simplemente decoro con bordado en cinta. El tejido me ha ayudado muchas veces para hacer al decorar un bolso con flores o al tejer un borde de una toalla o los bordes de cobijas de bebé.

The good thing about having the knowledge of these three arts is to be able to combine them in a single craft, for example in sewing it has been useful for me, because sometimes I make embroidered applications with scalloped stitch or simply decorate with ribbon embroidery. Knitting has helped me many times to make when decorating a bag with flowers or when knitting a towel border or the edges of baby blankets.

Este es el caso del juego de baño que hoy les presento; cuando mi amigo Henry me pidió que le hiciera tres juegos de baño para decorar, pensé de una vez que quería algo distinto a lo que ya había hecho antes, es decir; normalmente hago juegos de baño con volantes amplios que caen de la tapa de la poceta o el tanque y en verdad son hermosos, pero haciendo un sondeo en el mercado me di cuenta que ya eso ha pasado de moda, ahora se utilizan más planos sin tanto volumen.

Combinar la costura con la técnica de aplicaciones bordadas en patchwork me encantó, por eso no dude ni un minuto en mostrárselos a mi cliente y él fue quien escogió los modelos que quería para su baño y el de sus hijas.

This is the case of the bath set that I present to you today; when my friend Henry asked me to make him three bath sets to decorate, I thought at once that I wanted something different from what I had done before, that is; normally I make bath sets with wide ruffles that fall from the lid of the bowl or the tank and they are really beautiful, but doing a survey in the market I realized that this has gone out of fashion, now they are used more flat without so much volume.

Combining sewing with the technique of patchwork embroidery applications I loved it, so I did not hesitate a minute to show them to my client and he was the one who chose the models he wanted for his bathroom and his daughters.

La compra de las telas:

Ir a las tiendas a comprar es muchas veces una larga aventura, las que no saben les cuento que muchas veces podemos pasar todo un día de un lado para otro, de tienda en tienda buscando el color, el tipo, la combinación que soñamos. Así es la vida, una cosa es lo que vemos en esos modelos tan hermosos de internet y otra cosa es lo que encontramos en las tiendas.

Pero yo he aprendido que apenas empiezas a ver telas debes ir buscando el plan B, yo voy tomando fotos, precios y a veces pido un trozo de tela para llevar la muestra a otros lugares y observar si queda bien o mal, si combina o no.

The purchase of fabrica

Going to the stores to buy is often a long adventure, those who do not know I tell you that many times we can spend a whole day back and forth, from store to store looking for the color, the type, the combination that we dream. That's life, one thing is what we see in those beautiful models on the internet and another thing is what we find in the stores.

But I have learned that as soon as you start to see fabrics you have to look for plan B, I take pictures, prices and sometimes I ask for a piece of fabric to take the sample to other places and see if it looks good or bad, if it combines or not.

En este caso me costó bastante decidirme; recuerdo que fui a todas las tiendas “El castillo en caracas” comencé en los Ruices, sabana grande y terminé en la Hoyada. Parecía loca, fui de la esquina de Cují a esquina de Marrón como tres veces y a la final me convencí que estos colores que ves en la pantalla era lo que más me podía servir.

Como recordaran eran tres juegos de baño, uno azul marino, otro rosado y un azul cielo; compré medio metro de cada color, también compré guata F-10 y tela de forro tafeta.

In this case I had a hard time deciding; I remember that I went to all the stores "El Castillo en Caracas", I started in Los Ruices, Sabana Grande and ended up in La Hoyada. El diseño:

Sacar un diseño distinto, saber cómo vas a colocar el sesgo, la liga en la tapa del tanque, el sesgo en las alfombras fue un tema que me puso a pensar; la verdad es que el sesgo toda la vida me ha dado dolores de cabeza; recuerdo que una vez anduve con mi esposo toda caracas en busca de un aparato que es especial para colocar sesgo con la mala suerte que nunca lo encontré.

Design:

To draw a different design, to know how you are going to place the bias, the garter on the tank top, the bias on the carpets was a topic that got me thinking; the truth is that the bias all my life has given me headaches; I remember that once I walked with my husband all over caracas looking for a device that is special to place bias with the bad luck that I never found it.

Busqué la mariposa que más se parecía al diseño, busqué también la flor de seis pétalos, saque el tamaño preciso y dibuje. Luego eso lo lleve a un patrón y poco a poco fui traspasando a la tela, luego al pelón con pega, más tarde se corta cada pieza y se arma sobre la pieza que antes se supone ya debe estar cortada, enguatada y cocida.

I looked for the butterfly that most resembled the design, I also looked for the flower with six petals, I took the precise size and drew it. Then I took that to a pattern and little by little I transferred it to the fabric, then to the fabric with glue, later each piece is cut and assembled on the piece that before is supposed to be cut, gloved and baked.

Los patrones:

Los patrones de un juego de baño varían, hoy en día las pocetas son tan modernas que ya no traen tanque, algunas son redondas, otras ovaladas; pequeñas o grandes. El otro tema de las pocetas modernas es el bajante del agua, algunas traen en la parte superior del tanque, otras de lado y las más antiguas lo tienen a un costado del frente, por eso es importante entrevistar a tu cliente. Si es posible que tomen un papel bond debajo de la tapa de la poceta y dibujar sería ideal.

Yo aún conservo el modelo de las pocetas de mis clientes porque uno nunca sabe cuándo te van a encargar un modelo nuevo.

Patterns:

The patterns of a toilet set vary, today the sinks are so modern that they no longer bring tank, some are round, others oval; small or large. La costura:

Cuando ya tenemos todas las piezas medidas, cortadas, es la hora de ir a la máquina. Las líneas de este juego de baño fueron marcadas primero con la ayuda de la plancha y tienen una separación de 5 centímetros.

Cuando ya tenemos la parte principal hecha nos vamos a la parte del bordado a mano para colocar la aplicación. Aquí debo decirles que si tú crees que puedes colocar esta aplicación con la máquina de coser y te queda bien pues sería perfecto. Yo de verdad lo intenté con las flores pero no pude, en verdad no me quedaba bien y preferí tomarme el tiempo y hacerlo a mano con toda la paciencia del mundo.

The sewing:

When we already have all the pieces measured, cut, it's time to go to the machine. The lines of this bath set were first marked with the help of the iron and have a separation of 5 centimeters.

When we have the main part done we go to the hand embroidery part to place the application. Here I must tell you that if you think you can place this application with the sewing machine and it looks good, it would be perfect. I really tried with the flowers but I couldn't, it really didn't look good and I preferred to take my time and do it by hand with all the patience in the world.

Resultado final:

Ahora puedo decir que mi WIP_June o proyecto en proceso fue finalizado con éxito. Ya éste sábado le entregaré el encargo a mi cliente y espero que le guste tanto como a mí.

Now I can say that my WIP_June or project in process was successfully completed. Already this Saturday I will deliver the order to my client and I hope he likes it as much as I do.

WIP-July:

Ahora puedo sentirme bien porque cumplí con lo que quería, me demostré a mí misma que cuando se quiere se puede.

La verdad es que me hubiese sido más fácil presentarle unos modelos fáciles de hacer a mi cliente y salir de eso rápido sin matarme mucho la cabeza, pero ¡definitivamente! ¡Esa no soy yo! Yo adoro ver la cara de mis clientes cuando le entrego un producto hermoso y más que el dinero me quedo con la sonrisa de sus rostros y su agradecimiento.

WIP-July:

Now I can feel good because I accomplished what I wanted to do, I proved to myself that when you want it you can do it.

The truth is that it would have been easier for me to present some easy-to-make models to my client and get out of it quickly without killing my head too much, but that's definitely not me! I love to see the face of my clients when I deliver a beautiful product and more than the money I keep the smile on their faces and their gratitude.
