What's Your Life Purpose?

in voilk •  2 months ago

This week Eric asked us to write about our life purpose. Do you know what yours is? Mine is really clear to me, in hindsight it has been there all along (though I didn't always know how to explain it as clearly as I do now).

In this post he posed this question:

"If you had to summarize your purpose in life in one sentence, what would it be and why?"

    Ready for my one sentence?

    It's really short.

    Ready?

    To teach.

    It's always been to teach.

I don't think it's because my parents were teachers (though I'm sure that helped me see it).

I think it's because there was something in me from the very beginning of this life that helped me see what people needed to learn and gave me the ability to explain things simply.

I'm good at explaining the same thing in different ways.

I'm good at using metaphors to link new concepts to things people already know, thereby creating a bridge for them.

And I love how much it empowers other people when I teach them how to do something instead of just doing it for them.

Now, could I just teach about anything and be happy?

    Probably not.

I've tried teaching many things over the years. If the skills or knowledge I imparted were genuinely useful to that person at that time, it still brought me satisfaction.

There has been such a variety of topics I've shared with others over the years.

I've taught English to speakers of other languages.

I've taught swimming to young children.

I've taught people of many ages how to read a map.

In fact, I'm sure I could probably list out 100 different things I've taught. Since I was old enough to speak, I've taught my younger siblings how to do many things, including how to ride a bike.

I've taught very young through to almost adult children how to communicate better when on school camps.

I've taught adults how to rock climb, abseil and safely jump off rocks into deep water inside canyons, as well as how to make their heavy backpacks feel slightly less terrible when carrying them long distances :P

It's fun to think about the wide range of things I've taught people over the years. In fact, I'm sure I could easily turn this into a five thousand word post instead of the 500-word post it's likely to be :P

But what I love teaching the most is skills and knowledge that helps people to be themselves.

Know Yourself Be Yourself Love Yourself.png This used to be the banner I used for my business pages for a long time. I no longer remember the name of the photographer but this was a paid photo session I did when I was living on the island of Bali, Indonesia. Pretty, hey?

To that end, in my business I teach my clients and students about their energetic design they were given at birth using a tool called "Human Design".

I pair this with the knowledge I have about how to decondition (release old subconscious and unconscious programming that is detrimental to them being their most authentic self) and teach them why this is important and how to do it.

If this is something that interests you, tell me in the comments below and I can point you to resources for you to get started. You don't need to learn it from me but if you're determined to "be who you came here to be" and "do what you came here to do" then, I think, learning this stuff is essential.

    And that is all!

If you'd like to participate in this memoir monday initiate check out this link for all the details. As far as weekly questions go, Eric's requirements are pretty easy to follow so if you're new to Hive (or an "old hand" but short on time) I'd encourage you to check it out.
