Cheers and Beers to 29 years!

I am a busy-bee person for this month of September, lots of important things to do. And I really missed doing blogs at home. I will now give you a peek into some of the recollections I had during this month.
Last week, my spouse can't make it to my birthday on September 26 because he has to return to work overseas as soon as possible, so last week we decided to celebrate my birthday early. Despite the circumstances, we able to celebrate a special day for me in a simple dinner at home.
Glad that I found a husband who really loves to cook and he is the one who prepared all the foods for my birthday. It was just a budget friendly menu, a simple dinner, but we really had so much fun sharing all the foods that he cooked for us. So, what we have here is a lechon belly, fried chicken, chicken estofado and of course the traditional pancit for a long life. He really did great! As we all know, “just as good food satisfies the body, it nourishes my soul”.
It was an intimate dinner with family and friends, we talked about a lot of happenings in our life, and my heart is full seeing the kids playing and dancing in the living room and of course I forgot to take a picture LOL. I cannot measure the happiness that I felt that day because my father and nieces went over to celebrate with me and it really matters to me. That was the moment when I realized I am already blessed enough because there’s a lot of people around me who treasures me.
Did you know that I am already in the stage of my life that I don’t want to celebrate birthdays anymore because practically speaking celebrations are expensive yet after it doesn’t fulfill the joy that you really wanted somehow, in my case, all I wanted is an intimate day for myself. So yeah, at first, I don’t really have plans for this year’s birthday but since my husband insisted to prepare something as his gift for me, so I am really glad because I had so much fun, it was memorable worth remembering.
My husband wanted me to buy a cake so I decided to have an ube cake for a twist because we usually had chocolate or mocha cake. For your reference, we bought this cake at Cardinal’s Bakeshop located here in our town City of Naga, Cebu. I love their cakes because they offer different flavors like cheesecake, custard cake, mango mousse cake and many more. As for me who doesn’t really like too much sweets so this café is perfect for me.
I honestly feel weird thinking that I am now in my 29th year like it’s a year away before reaching 30’s. Oh my God, imagine next year I will 30 and it didn’t sink in my mind because I feel old. So, this is how I’m feeling and I even gaslight myself to just embrace my last year in the twenties. But of course, I am so much grateful for the life I have and to my mother who gave birth to me. I genuinely appreciate all the things in life.
An Open letter for myself on my Birthday…
I still recall all the past years full of roller-coaster rides but I am proud of you on how you become right now. I can see how brave you are facing the battles silently. You are amazing for keeping all things in place for your own sanity. Remember, life isn’t always about failure and struggles… you can have your own season of winning. You can always make revisions to every page of your life cause somehow; we are the artist of our own canvass.
Celebrate life as you used to be because it is your way of giving thanks of your existence. And look how far you are right now despite the hardships and challenges. So brave of you for facing the new journey and taking all the courage for the path that you choose.
Another thing, please don’t ever forget to keep your head up high no matter what it takes. And on the days when you feel like it didn’t work out then let God do the rest. As long as you are still breathing then it’s not the end of your life story. Breath and Smile.
