Cromford Train Station - Named One of the most Beautiful and Remarkable Stations in the World

We popped over to visit a quaint little railway station at Cromford in Derbyshire. The Grade II listed station is owned by Network Rail and managed by East Midlands Railway. If you are in the UK, the station was made famous by the band 'Oasis' as it was featured on the cover of their first number one single 'Some Might Say' in 1995. The song has the lyric, "standin' at the station, in need of education in the rain." It was also named one of the five most beautiful and remarkable stations in the world according to an article by BBC Bitesize. Source. I'm not sure about that but it's very cute.

The old waiting room, now privately owned and used as a holiday cottage, adds to the station's character. Walking through the station, you can't help but feel like you had stepped back in time.

After years of neglect, the Arkwright Society restored the main station on the northbound side and reopened it as office space in 2009.

The iron canopy and iron bridge can still be seen today, although you can not completely cross the bridge to the other side with it being private property.

The railway line is still in use for local journeys.
I'm really pleased it has been bought back to life. It definitely has a chocolate box look to it with the added bonus of free parking next to it.
