Flower Earring - Made with Plastic bottles

Today I am very pleased to show you a project that excites me a lot! I do not like to throw away plastic containers or plastic bags, but the truth is that sooner or later I end up throwing them away for not knowing what to do with them, some time ago I had seen some very interesting crafts to do for plastic bottles of soft drinks, but I had not dared to carry it out, today on the occasion of the celebration of the month of the earth and the Contest proposed by DIY HUB I dared to recreate it, I hope you like it, try to be as detailed as possible I hope you like it.

El día de hoy me complace mucho mostrar un proyecto que me emociona mucho! y es que no me gusta botar a la basura envases o bolsas de plástico, pero la verdad es que tarde o temprano las termino desechando por no saber que hacer con ellas, hace un tiempo había visto unas manualidades muy interesantes que hacer por las botellas plásticas de bebidas gaseosas, pero no me había atrevido a llevarlo a cabo, hoy con motivo de la celebración del mes de la tierra y el Concurso propuesto por DIY HUB me atreví a recrearlo, espero que les guste, intente ser lo mas detallada posible espero sea de su agrado.

Materials:

• Transparent plastic bottle
• Green plastic bottle
• Tinder
• Exact cutter
• Scissors
• Hoops and bijouterie wire
• Transparent nylon thread

I have seen many projects of this style for centerpieces or some other type of ornament for the home and that does not interest me so much, but when I saw that I could create very nice accessories that I could show off, I thought that this would be a perfect project. To do this I started by selecting one of the bottles we have at home and with the help of an exacto I removed the top and bottom of the bottle to use only the smooth part.
Then I cut some thin petals in the plastic, not too thick and about 6 cm long, I didn't use a mold for them just cut the shape in the plastic no matter if they varied a little in length or thickness, the next step and the most fun in my opinion was to undulate the plastic using heat, I used a tinderbox placing the flame at a safe distance and when I saw the ripple in the plastic I removed it.

He visto muchos proyectos de este estilo para centros de mesa o algún otro tipo de ornamento para el hogar y eso no me interesa tanto, pero cuando vi que podía crear muy bonitos accesorios que si podría lucir, pensé que esa un proyecto perfecto. Para ello comencé seleccionando una de las botellas que tenemos en casa y con ayuda de un exacto retire la parte superior y el fondo de la botella para usar solamente la parte lisa.
Luego recorte unos finos pétalos en el plástico, no demasiado gruesos y de aproximadamente 6 cm de largo, no use un molde para ellos solo recorte la forma en el plástico sin importar si variaban un poco en el largo o grosor, el siguiente paso y el mas divertido a mi parecer fue ondular el plástico usando calor, yo use un yesquero ubicando la llama a una distancia prudencial y cuando veía la ondulación en el plástico lo retiraba.

I was a little afraid of this part, as I was afraid of getting too close to the flame, but the plastic is really very easy to mold and I was able to do this step very quickly.

Tenia un poco de miedo en esta parte, pues temía acerca mucho la llama, pero el plástico es realmente muy fácil de moldear y pude hacer este paso muy rápidamente.

Fortunately I managed to find a green bottle this was ideal to make the leaves of my flower, for the leaves I decided to make different sizes of petals, some quite short and others as long as the petals of the flower.
With the petals molded I used a wire which I heated to make a small hole through which I would then pass the metal rings; I then proceeded to give them color, for this I used colored markers, I wanted something very pretty and feminine so I chose the purple color to color them, the technique I decided was to color with the marker completely from the tip with the hole and with the help of a brush and alcohol I blurred the ink to make a gradient of color to the tip.

Por fortuna logre encontrar una botella verde esta fue ideal para hacer las hojas de mi flor, para las hojas decidí hacer diferentes tamaños de pétalos, unos bastante cortos y otros tan largos como los pétalos de la flor.
Con los pétalos moldeados use un alambre el cual calenté para hacerles un pequeño orificio por el cual pasaría luego los aros de metal; procedí luego a darles color, para ello use marcadores de colores, quería algo muy bonito y femenino por eso elegí el color purpura para colorearlos, la técnica que resolví fue colorear con el marcador completamente desde la punta con el orificio y con ayuda de un pincel y alcohol difumine la tinta para hacer un degradado del color hasta la punta.

I chose the colored markers because with these I would manage to preserve the transparency of the material and give a nice effect, then of course I have to apply a coat of clear glaze to avoid washing out the color.

Elegí los marcadores de colores porque con estos lograría conservar la transparencia del material y daría un bonito efecto, luego por supuesto tengo que aplicar una capa de esmalte transparente para evitar el lavado del color.

With all the pieces ready it was time to assemble the pendant which I distributed as follows in descending order with a total of 16 petals and 10 leaves:
ring 1: three leaves
hoop 2 and 3: two petals and one leaf
ring 4: four petals
Finally I placed the stamens of the flower, for this I used transparent fishing nylon, and tied them in the 4th ring, secured it by burning a little with the tinder and then burned the tips to create a little ball.

Con todas las piezas listas fue hora de armar el colgante los cuales distribuí de la siguiente manera en orden descendente con un total de 16 pétalos y 10 hojas:
aro 1: tres hojas
aro 2 y 3: dos pétalos y una hoja
aro 4: cuatro pétalos
Por ultimo coloqué los estambres de la flor, para esto use nailon de pesca transparente, y los amarre en el 4to aro lo asegure quemando un poco con el yesquero y luego queme las puntas para crear una bolita.

Then it was time to make the hook to attach it to the ear, for this I used some bijouterie wire, and with the help of my tweezers I made the shape and cut the rest of the material, I placed a bead to decorate and finally I used two more rings to finally attach it to the earring, I was very excited to see it finished I did not think it would look so good, I think it is definitely a piece that could be used to wear on any occasion because it is very elegant, and all with recycled plastic bottles.

Luego fue hora de hacer el gancho para sujetarlo de la oreja, para ello usa algo de alambre de bisutería, y con ayuda de mis pinzas de le la forma y corte el resto del material, coloque una mostacilla para decorar y por ultimo use dos aros mas para finalmente unirlo al arete, me emocionó mucho verlo terminado no pensé que iba a quedar tan bien, creo que en definitiva es una pieza que podría usar para lucir en cualquier ocasión porque es muy elegante, y todo con botellas de plástico recicladas.

This is my craft so far I still have many plastic bottles and a tinderbox with a lot of fuel, I hope to continue exploring the material, hopefully I can create something else and return to give useful life to the plastic bottles that I keep at home.

Esta es mi manualidad hasta el momento aun tengo muchas botellas de plástico y un yesquero con mucho >combustible, espero seguir explorando el material, con suerte podre crear algo mas y volver a darle vida útil al plástico de las botellas que conservo en casa.
