It's the rainy season, and the roads and streets in my area are in poor condition, almost as though they've returned to their original state. For a while, we've enjoyed some peace and quiet due to the lack of rain. But yesterday, it poured heavily, causing all the roads in my area to flood. Finding a tricycle to take me home was a challenge, as there wasn't a single one in sight heading in my direction. When I finally found one, the fare was outrageous, and double the normal price, due to the weather conditions and bad roads.
Given the situation, our only alternative was to walk home, which was not a pleasant option because of the heavy rain and the considerable distance.
This was the first heavy rain we've had in my area this year, and the roads are already in poor condition, while transport fares have increased. I wonder what will happen during the proper rainy season when it rains heavily every day with thunderstorms. It could be a tough time for us.
If I had the power to repair and maintain the roads, I would have done so a long time ago. Unfortunately, it's beyond my control.
However, I do my part by picking up litter in my streets and nearby areas and disposing of it properly. This helps reduce breeding grounds for mosquitoes, which we all know transmit diseases to humans. Below are some pictures I took during my daily cleaning activities.
