Today my husband and I received a letter from our homeowners insurance, which is odd that we both got one. It was not so favorable of a letter. Both letters said the same thing, they will be canceling us this coming June unless we have the roof replaced on our home. They say it is 25 years old and needs replaced, that is unless we can get a certified inspector to say it will be good for another 5 years. We have never filed a claim and our roof does not leak. Also, they will not let us put the new roof on or our friends who do roofing, we have to hire a licensed company to do it, and this is why it costs so much.
We do not have ten grand to fork over for a new roof and we are not going to hire someone to look at it so they can say we get 5 more years. I would go to a different company but they are all doing this and this one is the only one that will insure trailers, it is the State-owned insurance company.
We have until June to decide what to do, we pay close to 2 thousand a year for it and if we drop the flood insurance then we do not need a new roof and it will cost us 900, BUT if a hurricane hits and takes our trailer out, we will be up the creek without our paddles.
