Blue Hearts for All Dads in Heaven

I am sure you guys spent special moments with your moms last month for the Mother’s Day. Now it is your father’s turn!

Everyday should be Mother’s Day and Father’s Day in our homes, but we must make May and June extra special for all the mothers and fathers who are doing their best for their children. Just like we do with our mothers, we all have distinct ways of appreciating our fathers, too. We define our love for them depending on how we experience life with them.

My father was a public servant since he was 23. He got so engaged with his job that he failed to attend to the needs of my siblings. He learned from this mistake and changed his ways. In my case, my dad showed his love for me by showering me with material gifts even though I didn’t need them, nor did i ask for them. I was not the type who would ask, but I think my dad, just like any father, loved to provide for his children, especially their daughters, for as long as he can. At first, as a young lad, I really appreciated it.

My dad honestly gave me almost every material thing he could think of, but honestly, I was not happy. I was looking for something else.

I was fortunate that when I went through a serious dilemma in life, my dad never left me. He made sure to check on me and my kids every day, and it meant a lot to me. He was the type of father who knew when his daughter needed him and initiated a solution to her problem. He protected me from people who wanted to control me. He was both my Santa Claus and Superman. Best of all, he became my best friend. These are the things I miss about him. His understanding, generosity, fairness, and valor. I never saw a family member who had the same characteristics as him.

I wish I could hug him today and show him how grateful I am to have a father like him who is unforgettable not just for me but to all the people he has helped, but I cannot. It pains me that I can no longer spend any Father’s Day with him, but I know he is now in a better place.

To all of you who still have your fathers with you, you are lucky. Please cherish every moment with them. Make every second and minute matter. Make them feel important just as how you make your mothers important.

Maybe some of you may have sentiments about your fathers. True, they may have their shortcomings and mistakes, but remember, no one is perfect. At the end of the day, they are still your father. We all wouldn’t be here on earth without our fathers.

To all male hivers here and single moms who also do the role of a father, Happy Father’s Day! Know that you are loved!

Let me share photos that remind me of my dad, my Santa Claus, my Superman and my Master Eagle.
