Views from the top of a mountain pass.

To be filled with awe, and to think that many years ago this was all wild.

200 years ago, none of these developments existed, and there was no pass over the mountain that we were standing on.

This is the Sir Lowry's Pass over the Hottentots-Holland mountains, and we have regularly used this pass to get over the mountain. At times, we even found wild baboons and their babies at the lookout spot, but not this time. I have posted it some time ago, and now I wanted to show you how the clouds can change the landscapes. I know a bit about the history of this area, and once upon a time the entire area that you see below was only one farm that belonged to the Cape Governor. But as I stand watching this, I even envision the time when there was nothing here, with wild animals roaming around at will.

You can see the sea on the horizon of this picture below.

Every inch of the hills is occupied by farmlands.

The only things that are still free and wild now, are the birds and the baboons, although some say that there are still some mountain leopards around.

Here was another bird further away, and it might also be a buzzard or an eagle.

Lovely little dams below, and a very fertile valley.

    Cloud shadows changed the view.

Here is a bit of a wider view of the photo above.

Just goes to show how times can change, and they reckon that change is a constant. In my many moons on this earth, I have seen an abundance of changes. When I was born, the farmers still rode around on horseback and only the rich could afford to buy cars. Fast forward to today and our paper-thin cars will make the old-timers turn in their graves. Soon we will have electrical flying cars and self-driving taxis. I hear that human robots will also go to work every day, and I only wonder what all the real humans will do if they have no work. But mind you, humans are very innovative, and I am sure that they will survive somehow.
Just the way things are going.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.
