Una introducción necesaria
Muchas veces, detalle como este se nos olvidan y estamos cometiendo un grave error porque esta es una de las maneras que tenemos de que las nuevas generaciones conozcan de las hazañas y hechos protagonizados por los homenajeados y que, los que tienen más edad o son contemporáneos puedan ver que su obra es recordada.
De esto trata esta publicación, porque la manera que tengo para homenajear a estas figuras icónicas del deporte mundial, es mediante un escrito o publicación en la que pueda expresar mis criterios en torno a su obra.
Por tales razones, esta publicación tratará sobre dos figuras muy queridas en Cuba y buena parte del mundo que lamentablemente no están con nosotros, pero que, legaron una historia llena de amor y resultados que deben ser conocidas por todos los que amamos al deporte, para que sirva de inspiración y ejemplos para los nuevos que llegan a la actividad deportiva.
El pretexto de la publicación
Hay personas que no necesitan pretexto para escribirles o dedicarles una publicación por todo lo que entregaron en función de los demás y por la obra conquistada. Pero, en este caso, además de la grandeza de ambos, se suma el hecho de haber nacido el mismo día.
No es una publicación biográfica ni pretende relatar hechos que usted podrá encontrar fácilmente en la Web 2, pero el que Eugenio George Laffita y Teófilo Stevenson Lawrence hayan nacido un 29 de marzo, aunque en años diferentes, es un pretexto perfecto para esta publicación.
El mejor entrenador del voleibol femenino del siglo XX
fuente/sourceCuando usted revisa la Web 2 y escribe el nombre de Eugenio George Laffita aparecen, junto a sus datos biográficos, una gran cantidad de títulos, trofeos y resultados alcanzados. Por tal razón, me limitaré a dar mi opinión, sobre cómo logró construir esos resultados.
Si hay un elemento que resulta fundamental en la obra de Eugenio fue el haber creado la Escuela Cubana de Voleibol. Es cierto que en sus inicios se nutrió de elementos de la escuela europea, pero, su grandeza radicó en la combinación de esos elementos con los que tenemos en esta parte de la geografía mundial.
Logró imponer un sistema de juego que ningún equipo pudo asimilar o copiar, pues, mientras todos los equipos jugaban con 5 atacadores y una pasadora, él logró imponer un sistema de juego con 4 atacadoras y 2 pasadoras, pero, la gran novedad de este sistema es que la pasadora que está en la zona defensiva podía, además de pasar contribuir grandemente con la defensa de campo, además de ser, en ese momento del juego la pasadora principal. Por su parte, la pasadora que estaba en zona ofensiva se convertía en otra atacadora letal.
Eugenio George hizo de sus equipos aulas donde, además de voleibol, se abordaban temas de valores, educación formal, conocimientos de cultura universal.
Logró formar varias generaciones de jugadoras que se destacaron por su calidad deportiva y valores personales.
Sus métodos de entrenamientos mezclaban la preparación física, con elementos técnico-tácticos, situaciones de juegos y elementos que hacían más llevaderos los entrenamientos.
En su fructífera carrera se recuerdan los tres títulos olímpicos consecutivos, dos títulos mundiales, una copa del mundo y varios torneos a nivel continental y regional.
Por todos sus méritos fue seleccionado como el Mejor entrenador del mundo en el siglo XX.
El mejor boxeador amateur de la historia
fuente/sourceDe todos los boxeadores que ha dado la Escuela Cubana de Boxeo no hay uno que destaque por encima de Teófilo Stevenson Lawrence y, no es el que más títulos ostenta, pero, su integralidad, calidad deportiva y humana, técnica boxística, pegada así lo ratifica.
Unido a lo anterior hay que mencionar su gran calidad humana y lo que significó para todos los boxeadores que vieron en él a un ejemplo por sus cualidades deportivas y sus valores humanos.
De un inicio tímido e inseguro a un final brillante, puede calificarse su carrera deportiva porque en 1971 perdió en los Juegos Panamericanos de Cali, Colombia, con Duane Bobick de Estados Unidos, y en 1986 cerró su carrera deportiva ganando su tercera medalla de oro mundial.
Teófilo Stevenson fue el mejor boxeador del mundo en varias ocasiones, pero, de manera particular se recuerdan sus Juegos Olímpicos de 1972, donde ganó la medalla de oro olímpica, se vengó de la derrota sufrida en Cali, en 1971 y noqueó a la entonces Esperanza Blanca del boxeo profesional Duane Bobick y se ganó la Copa Val Barker otorgada al mejor boxeador mundial.
Dentro de sus logros más significativos está el haber ganado tres coronas olímpicas e igual cantidad de títulos mundiales. Además, ganó varios torneos de prestigio internacional como Juegos Panamericanos, Copas del Mundo; entre otros.
Una reflexión final
Estos dos gigantes del deporte mundial atesoran una gran cantidad de títulos y medallas que algunas naciones enteras no pueden exhibir y son ejemplos de sacrificio, amor a la camiseta y al deporte que defendieron.
Para los que han seguido los pasos de estos deportes, los dos han sido inspiración permanente porque sus métodos de enseñanza, entrenamientos y protagonismo competitivo se han convertido en modelos a seguir por entrenadores de voleibol y por los que practican deportes de combate.
Como amante del deporte y como cubano constituye un altísimo honor tener en mi país a estas dos grandes figuras que constituyen ejemplos de los mejor del deporte internacional de todos los tiempos.

This is what this publication is about, because the way I have to pay tribute to these iconic figures of world sport is through a writing or publication in which I can express my criteria about their work.
For these reasons, this publication will deal with two very beloved figures in Cuba and much of the world who unfortunately are not with us, but who left a story full of love and results that should be known by all those who love sport, to serve as inspiration and examples for newcomers to the sporting activity.
The pretext of the publication
There are people who do not need an excuse to write or dedicate a publication to them for all they have done for others and for the work they have achieved. But, in this case, in addition to the greatness of both of them, there is the fact that they were born on the same day.
