Silver Bloggers Community is on My List

Hello friends, Hivers and of course my fellow Silver Bloggers. I'm writing this post in response to @lizelle post about the third anniversary of the Silver Bloggers Community. She has organized a special contest and all you have to do is tell about how you heard about Silver Bloggers, why you post there, and what keeps you coming back. To check out her blog about it click here.

I've heard of the Silver Bloggers Community pretty early on in my hive journey. When I was a newbie I was always involved with the #HPUD initiatives. One of them involved three lovely ladies (The Power of Three) which are also part of the leadership in this community. The three are @lizelle, @fionasfavourites and @coquicoin.

I ended up being selected for their delegations two months in a row. This was an incredible help to the beginning of my Hive journey due to not having much HP. I can't remember for sure but I eventually seen their connection to this community. At this point I had this community on my radar but at the time I didn't have anything on my mind to post to it.

I never got asked or had anybody recommend the community to me. I did run across someone who was just starting out in Hive about 6 months ago. A younger silver like me but a little younger 😊 One thing I noticed she was doing a lot of blogs to this community. It was me noticing this that made me to decide to join and post in the community. I guess I seen a whole lot is accepted and can be posted here. So @asiaymalay your blogs had a good impact on me making my first post here.

So my first post to the community was about 5 months ago. In total I have made a handful of post here. My first post was just about my recent happenings. I later posted about some medical issues to include getting a tooth pulled, medical diagnosis, and getting ready for my first colonoscopy. These are things I generally don't post about but I already got a taste of the community engagement. I knew there would be people who could relate with me. I wasn't disappointed with that it either.

So I mentioned going to the doctor and getting punched in the stomach in one post. I was diagnosed with a medical condition. I didn't expect to get a comment that really hit home to me, you will see soon why. I have only shared this with one other person on Hive but today I'm going to let the cat out of the bag and tell you a bit about it. You see I'm sharing a bit more here than I would in any other community I'm part of. A lot of the Silvers in this community have seen and been through a lot of life experiences. I just know someone can relate and that makes it easier for me to share what I'm about to.

I was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes and it was a great scare. My A1C was over 15 which is dangerously high. It didn't help the doctor giving me horror stories about two patients that had similar levels this high. Both were hospitalized and one of them is no longer with us. She also stated she was surprised I didn't have a heart attack or stroke. I was in funk and freaked out for awhile. I want to take this opportunity and state to see your doctor on those regular scheduled visits. I had a long lapse in between the last visit and maybe if I was on track this wouldn't have got as serious as it did.

Now my sugar levels are close to normal. I have changed my diet but I still enjoy some of the same foods I did previously. I just control the portion size and incorporate some type of exercise after eating. It's been a hard few months and I have also dealt with a lot of side effects with the medication I'm on.

Initially, the first three weeks, I was nauseous, had diarrhea, and had a bad case heartburn/indigestion. This all went away after awhile but I had another episode due to not being able to get my medication due to a worldwide shortage. I was off it for 26 days and I noticed a spike in my glucose levels.

Now the medication I'm on his called Mounjaro. The problem with the availability is due to its high demand. It's really the rich and some celebrities getting a hold of it due to its weight loss benefits. Even the mainstream population looks for ways to get it, I know because I have been approached by someone for some, smh. For someone that needs it for medical concerns this is all a bit frustrating.

The last three weeks I've went through the side affects of the medication again because of the break in usage. It really is a struggle to get it. I have to call several pharmacies to see who has it. I have finally got placed on waiting list with a few of them.

There are also some other things I'm going through that I need to have checked but I will share that at another time. Where might you ask? Of course it will be in this community.

Sharing life experiences good and bad is welcomed here. I feel like there are several silvers in this community that have either experienced or know someone that has been through similar life challenges. I totally love this about this community. So this a big part why I have shared here in the past and why I will continue in the future.

Take care, stay safe and let's move along with our life journeys. Until next time!
