My Resolutions

Hi my people, Merry Christmas in arrears to us all. We thank God for year 2024, it was indeed an awesome year. Going by my assessment of the year, it was not a bad year. Though many were faced with lot of difficulties, becausethe economy was less favourable with the skyrocket increase in the cost of living. I however realised some people passed through the fire without getting burnt. I wondered how they did it. I later got to know they are set of people that had good circle of friends or should I say they are set of people that had good relationship with people.

Little wonder they say a tree cannot make a forest. I struggled a lot by myself last year, in fact, I would say I toiled all round the year with nothing much at the end. The salary could hardly sustain me due to the hyperinflation, but my colleagues at work were just scaling through and getting help from their friends home and abroad. But who do I have? Who do I call? I used to be a very shy person. I shield away from friends and relatives.

I rarely visit my family and I don't have much friends that I really roll with, everything was just on a surface.

Hmm, 2024 is gone and 2025 is here. My resolution this year was to turn a new leaf. This year, I'm bent on having and maintaining good relationship with people. It is obvious one can't journey alone, I need good friends and good relationship around me. Social relation is not just about receiving monetary benefits but it encompasses other great things such as connection, information and lots more. Relationship with people bridges the gap and keeps one informed about lots of opportunities. I know my neighbours at home are not that educated but they get first hand information. In fact, they are so informed that they can never be deformed. In fact, this world is so intertwined than for one to stay isolated.

I have already started living my resolution, yesterday being the first day of the year. I went through my phone contacts and ensured I reached out to almost all of them, wishing them a 'Happy New Year'. To my surprise, someone noticed that was my first time of reaching out to him in such joyous holiday. He so much appreciated it and He told me it meant so much to him. Imagine, some really appreciated my calls that they also asked about my welfare, and promise to call me whenever there are job opportunities in their place of work. What other connection is more than that? Enough of my hiding, I'm coming out of my shell this year and creating better relationship with people.

Also, the other part of my resolution is the act of giving. I want to prioritize giving this year. Enough of 'there is nothing' syndrome. I have decided to be giving no matter how little I have. I started it yesterday also by giving a little money to an old man in our church to wish him 'Happy New Year '. Oh my God! His appreciation and prayer were so powerful. He prayed for me as if the gift was more than that. Little wonder, the Bible say it is better to give than to receive. In fact, I love the smiles that giving brings to people's face. I believe if each of us in the world is putting smile on another person's face, we will have a happy world. Also, my giving in this year is professing that I am great. It's also an evidence that if God blesses me more than this, I will always remember the needy. I'm so happy to enter into the new year and I pray God help me to do accordingly in Jesus name.

Happy New Year to all my friends on this great platform. I look forward to having a cordial relationship with you all. God bless you all.

This is my entry to the hivereachout weekly prompt.
