Cutting out a small part of the windshield cowl

in voilk •  3 months ago

It was quite obvious that there was rust on the edge of the windshield, so I cut out a small section to see what I might have to deal with.
After a lot of procrastination I cut a small plate of steel and bent it to shape by using pliers and anything else handy. I used a template taken from the other side of the car to try and math the curve up properly.

After some time I ended up with something that fit well enough that I was happy to tack it in place.

The idea being that I weld this small plate in before cutting out a bigger section, which is needed to reach the rusted metal under the cowl, some of which is visible in the photos.
