Welcome to the Tunnel

Good morning dear Friends, good morning Photography Lovers 📸🙌

Early this morning there was an announced change in the weather, the wind and rain are raging outside, they say that the rain will change to snow later. The room is warm, music is playing and I am taking you underground, to the Grič tunnel in Zagreb during Advent

Right at the beginning, I'm putting a link to my short video posted on Facebook with the photos that follow later in the post.

So, let's go see Tunell Grič

The Grič Tunnel is part of a labyrinth of tunnels beneath Zagreb's Upper Town. It was built in 1943 during World War II to protect civilians from frequent bombings. Today, it is the only one open to the public of all the Zagreb tunnels (it opened in 2016) that together make up this underground labyrinth.

Legends tell of secret underground passages throughout the city. One of them tells of a major earthquake in 1880. Then, legend says, most of the tunnels disappeared, containing church gold. Today, it is a new tourist attraction in Zagreb.

It takes about five minutes to walk from end to end. A great place to escape the summer heat and literally walk underground to the city center. My visit was on a Saturday, when the temperature outside was below zero, and inside the tunnel it was a lovely ten degrees.

Dear friends, be sure to put Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, on your list of tourist destinations, which is magical during Advent, but also during the Festival of Lights in March every year.

This is all for Today dear Friends, see you Tomorrow
