Últimamente estoy enganchada con un juego y siento la necesidad de hablar sobre él. Se llama Stardew Valley y hace poco lo descubrí gracias a una amiga que lo conoce desde hace años. En este post hablaré de que trata y como me siento mientras lo juego.
Lately I'm hooked on a game and I feel the need to talk about it. It's called Stardew Valley and I recently discovered it thanks to a friend who has known it for years. In this post I will talk about what it is about and how I feel while playing it.
¿Imaginas que tu abuelo te hereda unas tierras en un pueblito donde no conoces a nadie y tienes que empezar tu vida desde 0? Pues de eso trata más o menos este juego. Vas a empezar con los recursos mínimos para vivir y poco a poco te vas a ir abriendo camino y vas a ir haciendo un lugar en el pueblo y la vida de sus habitantes.
Can you imagine that your grandfather inherits you some land in a small town where you don't know anyone and you have to start your life from scratch? Well, that's more or less what this game is about. You are going to start with the minimum resources to live and little by little you are going to make your way and you are going to make a place in the town and the life of its inhabitants.
Stardew Valley tiene una temática parecida a Los Sims, en el aspecto social. No es que puedas estar en el valle desentendido del resto de la población pues a lo largo del juego te ves en la obligación de relacionarte con los pueblerinos. Cada personaje tiene su historia y a medida que avanzas los vas conociendo mejor, sus gustos, forma de ser y pensar, te sensibilizas con sus problemas, te enamoras, te haces amigos y te tienen en cuenta. El juego se esfuerza mucho en hacer que seas una parte activa de la trama, eso le da cierto realismo y es algo que me encanta.
Stardew Valley has a similar theme to The Sims, in the social aspect. It is not that you can be in the valley without being aware of the rest of the population because throughout the game you are forced to interact with the villagers. Each character has their own story and as you advance you get to know them better, their tastes, their way of being and thinking, you become sensitive to their problems, you fall in love, you become friends and they take you into account. The game makes a great effort to make you an active part of the plot, that gives it a certain realism and is something I love.
También tiene cierto parecido con Minecraft en el sentido de que tienes tareas como pescar, minear, cocinar, sembrar y cultivar. A medida que vallas jugando te darás cuenta de que puedes hacer mucho más, puedes ejercer ganadería y obtener productos artesanales como miel, queso, mermelada, mayonesa, aceites, tela, cerveza y mucho más. Claro que vas subiendo de nivel en varios aspectos tales como, minería, recolección, agricultura, pesca y combate. Todos sabemos que esas tareas tarde o temprano se vuelven aburridas pero a diferencia del Minecraft cada esfuerzo es recompensado si vendes o regalas el fruto de tu trabajo. Siempre tratan de mantenerte ocupado con pedidos o tareas que van a conformar tos objetivos y metas, los más resaltantes serían donar reliquias al museo o reparar el centro cívico.
It also has some resemblance to Minecraft in the sense that you have tasks such as fishing, mining, cooking, planting and farming. As you play you will realize that you can do much more, you can do livestock farming and obtain artisanal products such as honey, cheese, jam, mayonnaise, oils, fabric, beer and much more. Of course, you level up in various aspects such as mining, agriculture, gathering, fishing and combat. We all know that those tasks sooner or later get boring but unlike Minecraft every effort is rewarded if you sell or give away the fruits of your labor. They always try to keep you busy with orders or tasks that will shape your objectives and goals, the most important would be donating relics to the museum or repairing the civic center.
Pero no todo es trabajo pues hay días festivos, donde en el valle se celebran sus diferentes tradiciones anuales. Dependiendo de la estación del año puedes encontrar bailes, ventas, exhibiciones, juegos, apuestas, competencias, presentaciones teatrales y más. Lo mejor es que siempre te hacen participe de todas las actividades. Hay momentos en los que se me olvida que estoy en un juego, pues la experiencia visual e interactiva te atrapa y sientes que la ficción se convierte en realidad.
But it's not all work because there are holidays, where the valley celebrates its different annual traditions. Depending on the season of the year you can find dances, sales, exhibitions, games, bets, competitions, theatrical presentations and more. The best thing is that they always make you participate in all the activities. There are times when I forget that I am in a game, because the visual and interactive experience traps you and you feel that fiction becomes reality.
Mi última advertencia es que es un juego altamente adictivo por su fácil jugabilidad y su trama envolvedora. Quisiera dar detalles más precisos de como se juega o que pasa al final pero le estaría quitando la magia de experimentar y descubrir las cosas por tu cuenta. Espero que este pequeño resumen haya bastado para transmitir toda la emoción que me proporciona el juego y que al leer esto sientas la necesidad de experimentarlo, si no lo conocías. My final caveat is that it is highly addictive game because of its easy gameplay and involving plot. I would like to give more precise details of how it plays or what happens at the end but I would be taking away the magic of experimenting and discovering things on your own. I hope this little summary has been enough to transmit all the emotion that the game gives me and that by reading this you feel the need to experience it, if you didn't know it. Thanks for reading.
