Hello, splinterwarriors. I hope you all are doing well.
Today, I will share a battle that has all the strategic play a deck can have to have an edge over your opposition.
Without further ado, let's begin!
Battle Conditions
The mana cap is 43 and there are 5 summoners to choose from: Fire, Water, Nature, Life, and Death.
Battle Link:-
- Born Again: All monsters have the rebirth ability.
- Silenced Summoners: Summoners do not give stat buffs or debuffs or grant/use any abilities.
- Lost Legendaries: Legendary monsters may not be used in battle.
Keeping the battle rules and mana cap in mind, I chose the death summoner for the monsters ready to dawn the arena in his arsenal. It provided various debuffs that would not be administered in battle but the monster levels would be high, hence him being a top choice regardless of the ability.
Battle Detaiils
Let's start from my side:
Summoner: Thaddius Brood(Ability: Decrease IN HP and Magic damage by 1 for all enemy monsters)(Level 5).
Tank: Cursed Windeku(Ability: Thorns, Heal).
Melee Attackers: Arachne Thug(Ability: Reach, Trample), Silent Sha-vi(Ability: Sneak, Cripple).
Blocked Melee Attacker: Night Ghoul(Ability: Taunt).
Magic Attacker: Venai Bonesmith(Ability: Life Leech, Poison).
Ranged Attacker: Dhampir Stalker(Ablity: Aim true, Deathblow).
My strategy was to direct all incoming attacks not meant for my tank to go directly to my secondary tank, Ghoul. He has the highest HP, shield, and convenient ability, making him an ideal monster for this battle. My most prized monster was my tank. It can heal a third of its health and the presence of the thorns ability makes it the perfect tank. Then, I used a ranged attacker that would guarantee me a damage of 4 to the enemy; this little aspect was a game changer since his attack would always connect and would take out any tank character that might have the ability of last stand. I used all other attackers to attack his tank except for my Sha-vi. I wanted to thin out his numbers from the back and eliminate any healer that might be placed in the back. I used Bonesmith
My overall damage per round is 14 with 3 healing. Adding in the damage from thorns and poison it comes to 18 damage per round.
Now, for the opposition:
Summoner: Obsidian(Ability: Increase in Magic damage for all ally magic attackers by 1)(Level 5).
Tank: Venari Kniffer(Ability: Thorns).
Blocked Melee attacker: *Shield).
Ranged Attackers: Venari Seedsmith(Ability: Scavenger, Poison), Vampiric Blossom(Ability: Oppress).
Magic Attackers: Mycelic Splispawn(Ability: Taunt, Forcefield), Goblin Psychic(Ability: Tank Heal, Affliction).
He aimed to attack from the back of his deck to my tank while diverting all incoming damage except from the enemy tank toward his Splipspawn. He used a second tank and [lced it behind his tank for his Seedsmith to scavenge more HP and try to inflict poison upon my tank. He used a healer that could prevent self-heal traits and a ranged attacker that would do double damage if encountered with a non-attacking unit.
His overall damage per round is 12 with 2 healing. Adding in the damage from thorns and poison, it comes to 16 damage per round.
Major Events
The first monster to fall for a second and permanent time was his Splipspawn. The finishing blow was dealt by my Bonesmith after half the round had passed.
Shortly, after his tank fell and his secondary tank came up, my Ghoul bit the dust after getting hit with poison and affliction both times at the end of round. This made a 4 v 5 with me having the overall higher HP.
At the end of the round, his second tank fell giving his Seedsmith more HP to scavenge making it yet another tank.
At the start of the game, his Blossom blossomed for the last time thanks to my Sha-vi. My tank was inflicted while his new tank had exceptionally high HP.
At the end of the round, his tank was finally taken care of while my tank thrived and was not eliminated even once and thus the game was not completely in my control.
Finally, at the end of the round, his mage fell for the second and last time while only 1 of my attackers fell throughout the game.
Results
His Goblin was the perfect counter for my tank since he could block off my only source of healing. He is also probably frustrated with all the Noa-Kulu combo which is why he used Blossom in the back which is completely understandable. My ability to ensure high overall damage was probably the key to beating a squad with shield, poison, heal, and scavenge ability.
