Now that January is here, it's time to predict the upcoming pop culture year. What could be good? What will be a big bomb? Which show's much anticipated HBO comeback will be better, The Last Us or The White Lotus? Though only time will tell, there are instances when the anticipation and waiting game can be just as enjoyable as the releases themselves. Without further ado, these are the top five TV series people look forward to in 2025.
The Studio
The streaming library offered by Apple TV+ is a mixed bag overall, with some shows doing well and many others not. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, the studio's beloved creative combo, are back together for a new show that should be the former. The dramedy offers a humorous look inside the inner workings of a financially troubled Hollywood film studio that recently put Rogen's character in charge. Fans of celebrities and entertainment may want to check this out based on the trailer's appealing appearance.
The Four Seasons
I believe that Tina Fey is infallible, and all of her recent television endeavors, including Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Great News, and the recently canceled Girls5Eva (RIP), are amazing. Her next Netflix offering, which does not yet have a release date, is The Four Seasons, a humorous miniseries based on the same-titled 1981 Alan Alda movie. Fey co-stars with Steve Carell and a fantastic cast that includes Will Forte, Erika Henningson, and Colman Domingo. It is hoped that this release will continue the humorous antics that fans of the producer have grown accustomed to.
Stranger Things
A recurring favorite has to take one place on this list, and there will be many sequels showing up on screens in the upcoming months. However, Stranger Things' fifth and final season is the most anticipated. Over nearly ten years, audiences worldwide have witnessed the characters (and real-life cast) of this science fiction adventure develop, and this year, the story is finally set to come to a spectacular end. There were several full-length episodes in the fourth season, and a stage play prequel will shortly debut on Broadway. Television at its best, Stranger Things is a sensation. Will the plane be successfully landed by the Duffer Brothers?
IT: Welcome to Derry
The two recent IT films, which are among my favorite spooky films and Stephen King adaptations in recent memory, are prequels to this HBO horror series. Bill Skarsgard reprises his terrifying role in Welcome to Derry, which delves into the beginnings of the evil force known as Pennywise. The show, which is set in the 1960s, promises to reveal the sinister incidents that have dogged the community for many years. This kind of franchise growth is preferable to a Dune spinoff or another mediocre MCU series. Additionally, the HBO banner on this suggests a certain amount of distinction, much as how The Penguin, which aired last year, was not merely a comic book movie but rather a sophisticated crime drama from the network.
The Chair Company
People either adore or despise Tim Robinson or even love to despise him. He has, to put it mildly, a distinct sense of humor that is frequently based on hotdogs and is utterly absurd. However, his comedic series I Think You Should Leave is right up your alley. You'll be happy to hear that Robinson is joining HBO with The Chair firm, a series that centers on a man who starts looking into a conspiracy within his firm following an unpleasant occurrence at work. As he puts it, "I hope the executives let Tim do whatever the hell he wants."
