Our protagonist is Rue, a teenager with many problems... whose voice will be in charge of revealing the darkest parts of reality. This series introduces us to Generation Z, from a perspective that doesn't pull any punches.. exposing their daily struggles, but with a simply brutal honesty, it doesn't have that “soft” feel that most youth stories are presented with. The first thing that stands out about this series is its approach to mental health... it has no fear or limitation in showing the disorders that the characters have, exposing them explicitly and sincerely, from anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, addictions, depression, and a myriad of complex and negative emotions that these young people express... something that is not common to see represented on television, or at least it had never been portrayed in this way.

En esta ocasión quiero hablarles de una serie de televisión que ha dado mucho de que hablar.. considerada por muchos como de las mejores series de la actualidad, mientras que otros piensan que no es la gran cosa, y que puede que no merezca todo el reconocimiento que ha obtenido. Hoy día les hablaré de Euphoria, y les comentaré como para mí esta serie se convirtió en un antes y un después para la representación de la adolescencia en los medios audiovisuales actuales. Euphoria es una serie que, desde el primer momento, sientes que es diferente.. Promete una experiencia intensa.. cruda, y menos romanizada de lo que es la juventud actual. El primer capítulo, acompañado de las primeras escenas, nos presentan algo bastante inusual de ver representado en los medios, y conforme transcurre la primera temporada, nos sumerge en un mundo sumamente caótico, que refleja con exactitud la sociedad actual.
Nuestra protagonista es Rue, una adolescente con muchos problemas.. cuya voz será la encargada de revelar las partes más oscuras de la realidad. Esta serie nos presenta a la Generación Z, desde una perspectiva que no se anda con rodeos.. exponiendo sus luchas diarias, pero con una honestidad sencillamente brutal, no tiene esa sensación de “suavidad” con la que se presentan la mayoría de historias de jóvenes. Lo primero que destaca de esta serie, es su enfoque a la salud mental.. no tiene ningún miedo o limitante en mostrar los trastornos que tienen los personajes, exponiéndolos de manera explícita y sincera, desde ansiedad, trastorno obsesivo-compulsivo, adicciones, depresión, y un sinfín de emociones complejas y negativas que expresan estos jóvenes.. algo que no es nada común ver representado en la televisión, o por lo menos no había nunca que lo representarán así.
From the first episode, it is clear that one is watching a production that values aesthetics, visuals, what the viewer sees and uses it to deepen the plot. This series not only uses it as a mere “tool” to tell a story, but presents every shot, every color, every camera movement with an incredible professionalism, which is placed in order to contribute to the understanding of the characters, and their internal conflicts. This attention to detail is masterfully complemented by a soundtrack that greatly intensifies the emotions of each moment, and sets an incredible pace in the plot.
Among the other highlights of this production are the characters.... These boys and girls are constantly exploring and redefining who they are, especially when it comes to sexuality and gender... the series tackles these issues with a depth that I have rarely seen, showing the real complexities and difficulties that young people also face today, the hell that teens and young adults are going through... that is something that is really happening, something that really exists, and they just grabbed it from reality, and threw it here just as it is.
DALE CLICK AQUÍ PARA VER LA VERSIÓN EN ESPAÑOLDesde el primer episodio, queda claro que uno está viendo una producción que valora mucho, pero mucho la estética, las visuals, lo que el espectador ve y lo usa para profundizar en la trama. Esta serie no solo la usa como mera “herramienta” para contar una historia, sino que presenta cada plano, cada color, cada movimiento de cámara con una profesionalidad increíble, que está puesta con el fin de contribuir a la comprensión de los personajes, y sus conflictos internos. Esta atención al detalle tan genial, se complementa magistralmente con una banda sonora que intensifica enormemente las emociones de cada momento, y marca un ritmo increíble en la trama.
Entre otras cosas que destacan en esta producción, están los personajes.. Estos chicos y chicas están constantemente explorando y redefiniendo quienes son, especialmente en cuanto a sexualidad y género se refiere.. la serie aborda estos temas con una profundidad que pocas veces he visto, mostrando las verdaderas complejidades y dificultades que también enfrentan los jóvenes hoy en día, el infierno por el cual adolescentes y jóvenes están pasando.. eso es algo realmente esta sucediendo, algo que realmente existe, y simplemente lo agarraron de la realidad, y lo lanzaron aquí tal cual es.
It is super refreshing to see a series that not only touches on complex topics superficially, but actually addresses them without fear of controversy, without fear of people being “offended”. A clear example of this, is the sex in Euphoria... unlike thousands of other teen or young person series, here sex is not glamorized, nor presented as super-fun or super-pleasurable most of the time. It is easy to imagine a teen series where the sexual encounter is love, and passion without more, and although indeed, these situations are real too.
Here we can see how the reality is different, sometimes also, as part of today's youth see sex as simple entertainment, something to enjoy, enjoy .. and not only that, this can cause abuse, either psychological or sexual, in a way so camouflaged that to any young person could seem normal, and it is not about romanticizing this type of abuse or encounters, but to present a reality in which it occurs and that is clearly questionable. This has a purpose, it seeks to reflect how is the reality of many young people in relation to sex, and how it is often something confusing, uncomfortable, and sometimes even traumatic.
DALE CLICK AQUÍ PARA VER LA VERSIÓN EN ESPAÑOLEs súper refrescante ver una serie que no solo toca temas complejos superficialmente, sino que realmente los aborda sin miedo a la controversia, sin miedo a que la gente “se ofenda”. Un ejemplo claro de esto, es el sexo en Euphoria.. a diferencia de otros miles de series de adolescentes o de personas jóvenes, aquí el sexo no es glamurizado, ni presentado como algo supe divertido o super placentero la mayoría de las veces. Es fácil imaginarse verse una serie de adolescentes donde el encuentro sexual es amor, y pasión sin más, y aunque efectivamente, esas situaciones son reales también..
Aquí podemos ver como la realidad es otra, algunas veces también, como parte de la juventud actual ven el sexo como simple entretenimiento, algo para gozar, disfrutar.. y no solo eso, esto puedo ocasionar abuso, ya sea psicológico o sexual, de una manera tan camuflada que a cualquier joven podría parecerle normal, y no se trata de romantizar este tipo de abusos o encuentros, sino presentar una realidad en la que ocurre y que claramente es cuestionable. Esto tiene un fin, se busca reflejar como es la realidad de muchos jóvenes en relación con el sexo, y como a menudo es algo confuso, incómodo, y a veces incluso traumático.
Drugs is another theme that is very present in this series. The way they've presented drug use here... It is both fascinating and frightening. The series doesn't glorify drugs, they show how they can be used as a form of escape, for some young people who are constantly dealing with pain and despair in their lives. There are sequences, specifically Rue's, that left me speechless... scenes that represent the whole ecstasy of what it is to get high, visually it is breathtaking... the colors, the effects, the variations between substances... everything is filled with so much symbolism, extremely impactful.
This visual representation is not only beautiful, it also offers a deeper understanding of what Rue is really feeling...well, speaking of which, let's talk about, or rather praise, Zendaya's performance in this production.... I simply find it hard to put into words the lead's performance here, spectacular, amazing, incredible, stunning, breathtaking...I feel like I keep coming up short. She has managed to capture the essence of her character in a heartbreaking way, and very fascinating..
DALE CLICK AQUÍ PARA VER LA VERSIÓN EN ESPAÑOLLas drogas es otro tema que está muy presente en esta serie. La manera en la que han presentado el consumo de drogas aquí.. Es tanto fascinante como aterradora. La serie no glorifica las drogas, muestran como pueden ser utilizadas como una forma de escape, para algunos jóvenes que están lidiando constantemente con el dolor y la desesperación de sus vidas. Hay secuencias, específicamente las de Rue, que me dejaron sin palabras.. escenas que representan todo el éxtasis de lo que es drogarse, visualmente es impresionante.. los colores, los efectos, las variaciones entre sustancias.. todo esta lleno de tanto simbolismo, sumamente impactante.
Esta representación visual, no solo es hermosa, también ofrece una comprensión más profunda sobre lo que en realidad siente Rue.. bueno, hablando de esto, vamos a hablar, o más bien alabar, la actuación de Zendaya en esta producción.. Simplemente, me cuesta trabajo expresar con palabras la actuación de la protagonista aquí, espectacular, increíble, impactante, impresionante.. siento que sigo quedando corto. Ha logrado captar la esencia de su personaje de una manera desgarradora, y muy fascinante..
The scenes of Rue fighting her inner demons, the climax scenes.. are really powerful, Zendaya manages to convey so many complex emotions, with a dazzling authentication, no doubt her role here has opened many paths for her.. I feel, without any doubt, that she has established herself as one of the best young actresses out there nowadays.. Taking home two Emmys and a Golden Globe for her great acting performance, the Emmy being one of the most important and prestigious awards in the television industry.
Although Zendaya does amazing, I found the overall cast of this series to be of very high quality... from Hunter Schafer, Jacob Elordi, who plays a very complex and disturbed character... this actor's performance is extremely good. I also have to mention Alexa Demie, Maude Apatow and, of course, Sydney Sweeney.... The latter being one of the actresses we've been hearing a lot about lately, her career is climbing higher and higher, but it was her participation in this series that really catapulted her, and made more people put their eye on her. The cast and acting, without a doubt, is an incredible plus that further enhances the whole experience that is this series.
DALE CLICK AQUÍ PARA VER LA VERSIÓN EN ESPAÑOLLas escenas de Rue luchando contra sus demonios internos, las escenas de clímax.. son realmente poderosas, Zendaya logra transmitir tantas emociones complejas, con una autenticación deslumbrante, sin duda su papel aquí le ha abierto muchos caminos.. siento, sin ninguna duda, que se ha consolidado como de las mejores actrices jóvenes que hay actualmente.. Llevándose dos Emmy y un Globo de Oro por su gran desempeño actoral, siendo el Emmy uno de los más importantes y prestigiosos reconocimientos en la industria televisiva.
Aunque Zendaya lo hace increíble, el reparto en general de esta serie me pareció de mucha calidad.. desde Hunter Schafer, Jacob Elordi, quien interpreta a un personaje muy complejo y trastornado.. la actuación de este actor es extremadamente buena. También tengo que mencionar a Alexa Demie, Maude Apatow y por supuesto, a Sydney Sweeney.. Siendo esta última una de las actrices de las que se ha oído hablar mucho últimamente, su carrera va escalando cada vez más y más, pero fue su participación en esta serie lo que realmente la catapulto, e hizo que más personas pusieran su ojo en ella. El elenco y actuación, sin duda, es un plus increíble que mejora aún más toda la experiencia que es esta serie.
Another thing that makes Euphoria amazing is the music, I think it definitely deserves a special mention. The series uses a mix of remarkable songs from renowned artists such as Andy Williams, Beyonce, Madonna, Drake, Migos, Bobby Womack among many others. The combination of this not only sets the overall tone of the series, but also adds another layer of meaning to the scenes...the music is deeply integrated into the narrative, fully transporting us into the very complex situations the characters go through.
Euphoria is not an easy series to watch, it is somewhat intense, and it is not afraid to delve into the darker corners of human experiences in general. However, it is precisely this very real honesty that makes it so powerful, so impactful. It is a fact that has caused a lot of furor in recent years, especially in young audiences, it forces you to face uncomfortable realities, and to question our own perceptions of what is right. This series has two seasons, and some specials, the first season has 8 episodes, then come the two specials, which are important to watch, as they serve to get us into the minds of the main characters, and then comes the second season with another 8 episodes, the latter having premiered in 2022. I still remember how shocking and heartbreaking was the end of this second season, and how it resonated through social networks...
And well, this series is certainly highly recommended, it is an experience that will make you think and feel, it will stay with you long after the credits have ended, if you are a relatively young person, and want to explore what is a faithful representation of situations that sadly you surely lived, here you have your series. I give it a powerful 9.8/10 rating. It manages to capture the complexity of being young in today's world, in a way that is both beautiful and extremely heartbreaking. La serie utiliza una mezcla de canciones increíbles de artistas reconocidos como de Andy Williams, Beyonce, Madonna, Drake, Migos, Bobby Womack entre otros muchos otros. La combinación de esto no solo establece el tono general de la serie, sino que también añade una capa más de significado a las escenas.. la música se integra profundamente en la narrativa, transportándonos completamente a las situaciones tan complejas que viven los personajes.
Euphoria no es una serie fácil de ver, es algo intensa, y no tema adentrarse en los rincones mas oscuros de las experiencias humanas en general. Sin embargo, es justamente esta honestidad tan real, lo que la hace tan poderosa, tan impactante. Es un hecho que ha causado mucho furor en los últimos años, sobre todo en el público joven, te obliga a enfrentarte a realidades incómodas, y a cuestionar mucho nuestras propias percepciones de lo que es correcto. Esta serie cuenta con dos temporadas, y unos especiales, la primera temporada cuenta con 8 episodios, luego vienen los dos especiales, que son importantes de ver, ya que sirven para adentrarnos en la mente de los personajes principales, y luego viene la segunda temporada con otros 8 episodios, esta última habiéndose estrenado en el 2022. Aún recuerdo lo impactante y desgarrador que fue el final de esta segunda temporada, y como resonó por las redes sociales..
Y bueno, esta serie sin duda esta recomendadísima, es toda una experiencia que te hará pensar y sentir, se quedara contigo mucho después de que los créditos hayan terminado, si eres una persona relativamente joven, y quieres explorar lo que es una representación fiel a situaciones que tristemente seguramente viviste, aquí tienes tu serie. Le doy una potente calificación de 9.8/10. Logrando capturar la complejidad de ser joven en el mundo actual, de una manera tan hermosa como sumamente desgarradora.
