The Groundnuts And I

Some people who love to eat peanuts 🥜 or groundnuts as it's commonly called over here in Nigeria, have this in common, Pimples pumping out on their faces while they consume this delicious-looking snack. Because they might be allergic to it.

Those people who do not experience any of it allergic may never know how truly lucky they are. And honestly, I do envy them even if it's just a little.
But unfortunately, I found myself in this category of people. It only takes a few hours for my face to start reacting, pimples start showing up uninvited after eating it.

Do the pimples make me stop eating it, heaven says no😅 what peanuts have joined together let no pimples put asunder.

I used to tell anyone in our house, I don't care who you are, never put your peanuts where I might see them. Because if you do, be ready to kiss them goodbye.

When I just married my husband, it took him a while before he got this memo, even after I told him a few times, he would still forget and would keep his peanut bottle carelessly in the house where my ever-prying eyes could easily see it.

The next thing, "Babe, do you happen to see the bottle of groundnuts I kept here?"

Oh, that, please forget it, it is gone.

    Huh, gone where, how?

My baby wanted me to eat them, not me you know, it is what our baby wants.

Yeah, keep scamming me with that.

Thank God I was already pregnant, so I could put all the blame on our child inside my belly.

Sometimes he would buy two bottles, and tell me, "This one is yours and that one is mine please make sure you do not eat mine. I would just smile and nod my head as if I would abide by the rule. But the urge in me to always eat any groundnuts that come my way is bigger than any set down rules. And to make it worse my pregnancy seems to make that urge double.

At some point, hubby got tired of buying ground nuts and never had the chance to eat out of it. So he gave up. Nowadays, when he does buy, he knows that his chance of eating it is as slim as putting big cotton wool inside the tiniest hole of a needle.

My love for groundnuts started a very long time ago. When I was very young, it was the first business I ventured into, so I won't be paying too much to buy peanuts, if I'm the one selling, I could always have an endless supply right? Only for the business to pack up because I could not stop eating away both my profit and part of my capital. Do I not feel guilty for doing that? Of course, I do, but how can I not eat those tasty-looking things that make me feel like my breathing depends on it?

Do I want to stop eating peanuts because it is causing pimples on my face?

No thank you, I don't want to hehe, I found a solution to the pimples thing. I have a natural remedy for that. A mesh of ripe pawpaw and turmeric powder came to my rescue some years back and when I can't seem to get my hand on ripe pawpaw, I have discovered a soap called egg soap that is doing a perfect job when it comes to getting rid of my pimples.

The only guilt that remains is depriving Hubby of his ration of peanuts whenever he buys some, and I think he could live with that. What are we family for if not to inconvenience one another? And if you ever live in my house, please, make sure you keep your peanuts hidden from where I can find them lol.

All images are mine, these peanuts should thank God we are in Ramadan, they won't have survived until now to show up in this post.😅

    Cheers! @funshee✍🙏😊🥰
