When I was a child, a stray dog arrived in front of my house and changed my life forever.
I remember clearly the day I saw him for the first time, he was a medium-sized dog, with a scruffy coat and eyes full of sadness.
He was lonely and helpless, searching for food among the rubbish in the street, from the moment our eyes met, I felt an instant connection with him.
I decided to approach him cautiously, holding out my hand to show him that I would not hurt him.
At first, he was fearful and wary, but gradually he began to come closer, sniffing my hand and wagging his tail shyly.
At that moment, I knew I had to do something to help him.
I decided to name him Nero, and from that day on, he became my loyal and faithful companion.
My parents supported me and we took him to the vet for a full check-up and vaccinations, I fed him properly with a balanced diet and took him for regular walks so that he could exercise and socialise with other dogs.
As Nero became an increasingly important part of my life, I also realised the importance of helping other stray dogs and there was no shortage of food in front of the house for some to eat. .
Unfortunately, Nero is no longer with me, after several years together, he passed away due to his advanced age.
He was already at university when this happened, he fell asleep and never woke up, I brought him into the courtyard of the house and it was impossible for us not to let a tear escape as he became part of the family.
