The killer called Depression

in voilk •  3 months ago

I can emphatically say depression is real, though I haven't been through it but I witnessed one with my cousin. Her state of mind got so bad to the extent that everyone of us in the family had to schedule ourselves on how to keep vigils for her sake.

I have watched movies and read on social media about depression but I never knew it was real until my cousin got depressed and all she was yarning for was to kill herself then I know that depression is actually a real thing.

My cousin Grace (whom we usually called Sis Gee) was a well-to-do lady, she was a HR (Human Resource Manager) of a firm, so through a conference she attended she met a guy who was also a HR. They became friends and one thing led to another within one and half years, the guy proposed to her and she accepted.

They got wedded and things were going smoothly in their union not until we heard that Sis Gee and her husband are planning to travel abroad and they have started the processing because the husband doesn't want her to give birth in Nigeria, that sounds good but we never knew it was a trick.

Sis Gee's position in her firm was quite higher than that of her husband in his firm, so she got loans from work and also gave out some of her savings to the aboard processing. All her thoughts were that the processing the husband was doing was for both of them she never knew it was for himself alone.

Although they both went for capturing but she never knew her own capturing process was fake, in the long run the husband traveled out without her and she didn't see any problem with that. She was just happy that at least one of them was able to be successful in the whole process. She continued her work and her husband sends money steadily to her to take good care of herself, the unborn child and to refund the loan she took from work.

Three months after repaying the loan the guy cut ties with Sis Gee, he was nowhere to be found, none of his lines went through again. So through her findings to know his whereabouts, she got to know all what the husband had done to her.

We got a distress call from a number one day that Sis Gee collapsed at the front of her house, she was rushed to the hospital and through the process she had a miscarriage then the problem started.

She cries all day and screams that she wants to die, she becomes so skinny because she refuses food and everything we provided for her. If not for God's mercy, she almost became insane, talking out of point and seeing the invisible. Everyone of us becomes afraid because any opportunity she sees it's suicide. We all became her watcher both night and day.

How she was able to pass through the tough time
Firstly, we collected her phones and disabled all her social media platforms, then we moved her to my Uncle's house (his wife is a nurse) where no one has access to her except her family members.

We all rallied round her, keeping vigils for her recovery process and her firm also supported us too. Now she's back on her feet and she is thankful that both her nuclear and extended family were helpful in her different situation.

    Lesson learned
From her experience, I've learned to trust only myself 100%. People can change at any point in life, reliance and putting your full trust on people can hurt you. But when your mind is 50/50 the degree of your hurtingest will never weigh you down.
