Breaking the Cycle: Should Children Pay for the Sins of their Parents?

There is this song we used to sing in the Christian body

    Abraham's blessings are mine x2
I am blessed in the morning.
I am blessed in the evening.
    Abraham's blessings are mine.

The reason why I started my blog with this song is because, according to the Bible, we are descendants of Abraham, and we can tap into his blessings even after his death. If we believe something like this so strongly, why should we refuse to accept the fact that the sins of the father should be visited upon their children after his death?

Now listen, I am not saying that a child should be punished for his father's sins when the father is still alive, but after the father is dead, the child or children should receive backlash for the sins of their father.

I am not against this because it will help humans live a good life. People tend to love their family, especially their offspring, more than they love themselves, and with this in mind, they still go out to commit crimes and cause misfortune to other people because they believe nothing bad can happen to their own family. Some people even commit atrocities in the name of family, but if there is an inherent karma that goes directly to their children after their passing, they would think twice before doing anything evil.

I believe this is a complex issue that requires careful consideration of various aspects. While it may seem unfair for children to suffer the fruit of their parent's mistakes, there are situations where the actions of parents can directly impact their children's lives. Some of these children learn from their parents and will want to keep the trend of their parents, while others tend to seek forgiveness, which I am in support of, but one thing about forgiveness is that people may forgive but they will never forget.

On the other hand, one could argue that each individual should be held accountable for their own actions and not be burdened by the sins of their parents. Children are innocent beings who deserve a chance to forge their own paths and make their own choices, separate from the wrongdoings of their parents.

I get that some children might want to make good changes if given the opportunity, and some might want to clear the bad name that their family or parents have made in history.

I read somewhere that in China, anyone caught in corruption while holding any public or political post isn't the only one who is going to suffer for it, but also their wife and children and everyone who benefited from that corruption. Currently, China has a very low rate of corrupt leaders.

My truthful thought about this is that I agree that the sins of the father should be visited on the children. Ok, listen to what I have to say. I am not saying because a man killed someone, then their children should be killed, no! There are many ways to punish a person for the misconduct of their family; this is why most developed countries tend to check someone's background thoroughly before employing them. Well, the child may be innocent, but they will learn about living a good life so their own children don't face the same pain they had to go through.

But on the other hand, while it may be a contentious issue, I believe that children should not be held responsible for the sins of their parents. Instead, society should focus on providing support and resources to empower children to overcome adversity and create their own futures, free from the burden of past mistakes.
