Areas in my town that need improvement and the dangers they impose.

    Hello, everyone.

It is really disheartening to look around and see that a lot of areas in my small town and Nigeria at large are lacking in a lot of areas. Seeing people in other countries enjoy basic amenities we cannot have access to is really painful. The painful part of everything is that we pay for these basic amenities and still don't have access to them. Why do we pay? We have to pay our electricity bill monthly, but we only get access to what we pay twice or three times, and at month end, they bring a very big bill.

My little community and Nigeria at large have a lot of work to do if we really want the citizens to enjoy themselves like citizens of other developed countries. In Nigeria, the areas that need improvements vary from one town to another. In some towns, it is quite bad as they do not have access to basic amenities like water but have access to good roads, and there are some that don't have access to any, and the people suffer. In subsequent paragraphs, I will discuss a few of the areas that need improvement in my town.

    We need a motorable road.

I visited my aunt in last month, and I became a full-time introvert because of the type of area she lives in. The roads are very bad, and there is no season of the year that favors this road. During the dry season, it becomes extremely dusty, and when it rains, it becomes extremely muddy and slippery. Vehicle owners cannot access the road whenever it rains because of how slippery it becomes. If your car is not parked by the roadside before it rains, that means you are going nowhere with your car that day unless you are willing to try your luck and see where it ends.

Imagine taking your bath, and before you get to the roadside or city since they leave the outskirts of town, your legs are already looking like you have not taken your bath in days. No matter how slowly and gently you walk, when you get to the main city, you'll be ashamed of your looks. Either you become all muddy or all dusty, depending on the season, and this alone discourages me from stepping foot outside.

They continued to suffer that while they called on the government but got no answer from the government, and they decided to come together and do the little they could. They contributed money and purchased palm kernel shell that was poured on the road, and now it is a little bit more accessible after it rains compared to what it used to be.

The educational sector of this town needs improvements too.

I also heard shocking news: my cousin is attending a school where the school fee is very expensive, but they don't have a physics teacher. The school management keeps making promises they do not keep. He's now a senior high school 2 student, and they have been living on a promise that a physics teacher is on the way. Before you know it, he is done with high school but has never had a physics teacher.

Our educational system throughout the country needs improvements and revitalization; even university students don't carry out any practicals, but we'd be forced to fill up a practical manual using the oral example the lecturer gave us in class. In Nigeria, all we do is study theory; we aren't given the room to practice what we learn in the theory classes. It has little effect on students.
