Simple Protective Habits 12/14/2024

The first thing I do when I get after being outdoors for so long is wash my hands. It’s something I never really thought about until a few years ago, but now it has become a habit I can’t ignore. When we’re out, we touch so many things, door handles, railings, money, even our phones, that could be carrying all sorts of germs. It’s scary to think about how easily those germs can transfer to our faces or food and slowly harm our health without us realizing it.

At first, it felt like a chore. I’d forget sometimes or convince myself it wasn’t that important. But the more I learned about how germs spread, the more it made sense to be consistent. Washing my hands became one of the simplest ways to protect myself and others around me.

Now, it’s second nature. I walk into the house, I head straight to some soap and water running, and wash my hands. It’s quick, easy, and honestly makes me feel better. It’s not a perfect solution, but it’s a small effort that goes a long way in keeping germs in check. If you’re not already in the habit, trust me, it’s worth getting used to.
