Cycling Myths 001: Scars For Remembrance

in voilk •  3 months ago

Cycling thing has always looked like the guys things for me ever since I was young. I had always perceived that it was the guys stuff just like football not until I started seeing a lot of ladies doing it with so much flexibility.

Coming from a family of less girls, my brothers have always been the ones cycling. I have never seen my sister try cycling and followed her footsteps too.
Till lockdown period when I saw a few ladies in my neighborhood cycle. Since the roads were always quiet, I would employ my brother to teach me how to ride. If you are a Nigerian or some part of Africa , you would hear things like you can never perfect riding a bike until have a scar on your body.
This has been what has kept my sister from riding a bike till now. She doesn't was a fracture, a broken heel, or dislocation.
Well I can ride a bike, but I don't have a scar. I had many falls then😂😂💔. I have hit my but on the road pavement countless times, fell from the bike a lot of times. Whenever I see an incoming vehicle, I would jump out of the bike and run just to avoid an accident😂💔💔😂😂😂😂.

I can ride a bike , but can't perfectly control the bike to avoid falls. At the sight of an incoming vehicle, I get fearful which might make me loose control. These and many more are my plights since I started riding a bike, but then I haven't had any scar for Remembrance.

Hey Bikers, what was your learning period like??
