A traditional stone flour mill

Hello friends, This weekend, I had to go to a village for a wedding. The wedding was in a village forty kilometers from my village. Where my sister lives, and it was in her house. It was in a wedding hall in a nearby city. I reached the village on Friday. I completed some of my small village work. The wedding was on Monday, and on the third, I went to my sister's place a day before. My sister also has a lot of farmland. We were sitting in front of her house when my eyes fell on an old, traditional stone mill lying there.

That mill had been taken out and kept aside, On asking, I came to know that it had to be installed at another place, and every ritual of the wedding is also associated with it. After the rituals are completed, it has to be fitted at another place. I expressed my desire to see it properly to my brother-in-law. My brother-in-law showed me it by opening it properly and taking it apart. Friends, I have seen this traditional stone mill running since my childhood. It is very old; it was used earlier when there was no electricity. The women of the house used to grind flour on it; nowadays, after the advent of electric mills, its importance has reduced. Due to this, women also get physical exercise. Women used to get up at four in the morning and grind grains.

Therefore, they also got the benefit of waking up early in the morning. And they also remained healthy. Friends, nowadays everything is a matter of comfort, so physical diseases are bound to happen. At that time, women used to sing some traditional songs while operating it, which sounded very sweet in the quiet atmosphere of the morning. It is called "Ovi" in Marathi. It was about God; it had Bhavgeet, devotional songs. And women used to sing in a very sweet voice, Due to that voice, family members also used to wake up early and start doing their work. It had two circular stones, one of which was fixed to the ground. The other was a rotating stone, which was placed on the fixed stone and rotated.

The upper stone had a hole, from which the grains were put inside. And to rotate it, a stick was fixed to the upper stone. You can see it in the photo. I remember that in my childhood, my mother used to prepare gram dal from gram. While preparing gram dal from all other grains, the sound of that mill was different. I still remember that sound. All types of grains can be ground in it. Friends, I am telling you the truth. What can I tell you about the taste of roti made from this flour? Nowadays, in an electric mill, due to its high speed, the grain gets overheated and its taste changes. But due to proper speed in this, all its elements remain in it. That is why it tastes very tasty. I think that is why it is said that one eats the flour of the mill; this must have become a saying. Meaning, where did so much power come from? Friends, I think, ha ha ha. It was a joke. Friends, how did you like this traditional mill, Please comment. Thank you.
