    Hello, friends especially foodies!

Recently, I went to one of the most popular place for eating pempek at snack time. For your information, pempek is one of our authentic dish which came from Palembang, the capital city of South Sumatra. Pempek is fish cake that made of fish (this place use mackerel) and sago flour as their main ingredients and also it made of any spices to become the pempek itself. Pempek is famous served with its' dark sauce called cuko which made of vinegar.

Without any more prologue let's dig in into my article about this pempek now.

It was Saturday at around 4 pm when we reached the restaurant that day. The place was not big and i took the photo while my aunt was sitting in a chair after we ordered and i paid for the pempek and the drinks that day.

For the kind of pempek they sold you could just see on their glasses showing case. They had kind of pempek kapal selam (yes we called it submarine pempek), the long one called lenjer, baked pempek, round shape fried pempek called adaan, and they also had smaller submarine pempek, and other smaller version of the regular pempek.

Like you could see in the menu they also had Palembang's authentic dishes like tekwan/model, and tofu noodle/roejak noodle.

For the price, small pempek costed 9k IDR while the bigger one costed 23k or 25k IDR. The price was neither high nor low for pempek.

Like i said their place was not big but it was popular, many customers took away their orders there too beside the customer who were having their pempek there.

You could see that the place was modest with plastic chairs and tables. Besides the pempek, they also sold many kind of fish chips that they put on the back of the dining area.

After waiting at around 15 minutes, what we ordered came to our table.. Here were the submarine pempek!

While my aunt put the green chili paste on her pempek, i didn't do it.

    Here was mine

With dried shrimp floss on the top and squared cut cucumber, the pempek served also with cuko, the special dark vinegar sauce for pempek.

The special thing about the submarine pempek is that it also has egg in it. The taste of the pempek was great in savory flavour. You could feel that it also contained garlic. The texture was crunchy but soft outside and soft inside. The mackerel used was fresh. The egg was also tasty. The cuko sauce made it even more special, it had sour, sweet and a bit spicy.

Hmm so yummy and it is so proper for snack time!

Wanna try our authentic pempek too?
