Free Performance for Games! More FPS on older RTX Cards!

in voilk •  last month

A couple of months ago, a completely free mod for games that have DLSS 3 frame generation was released that allows you to run AMD's open source frame-gen instead of Nvidia's DLSS frame gen.

Why would you want that? It's quite simple, RTX 2000 and 3000 cards don't support DLSS frame generation. So this is the only way to get it to work on them for now.

    And it works surprisingly well!
Despite some minor artifacting that you can see on the video when moving at high speeds, the game works like a charm and it turns my 40-50FPS at ultra into a silky smooth 60-70.

There are two caveats about this: It's bannable in online games and you have to do some registry hacking. But the registry hacking part is completely reversible and I always reverse it after I'm done playing the game.

I expect to see more games with FSR3 frame-gen decoupled from DLSS, such a thing has already happened with Ghosts of Tsushima so I don't doubt we'll be seeing more of this soon.

For now, enjoy your free performance on RTX cards!
