I will like to start by saying I am really happy there are other people that cares about making the earth a clean and healthy place to live right here on hive and do their own little part.
Plastic pollution is one of the most challenging and popular pollution in the world, because almost every household in the world makes use of plastic. That's why there are about 19-23 million tonnes of plastic waste that ends up in our water bodies and pollute the Aquatic ecosystems all over the world.

PLASTIC POLLUTION IN NIGERIA
In my country Nigeria, there is a widespread of plastic pollution due to the growing production of single-use plastics and bad recycling habits among the citizens. Statistics have shown that over 50 million plastic sachet water(popularly called, Pure water) are consumed and disposed wrongly in Nigeria, there is also other plastics like plastic food packs, shopping bags that are being dumped into the drainage system, that will eventually find their way into the water bodies. Nigeria was ranked 9th in the world in 2010 for the most pollution of water bodies.
Although Government are trying to reduce this pollution by banning and clamping down on single-use plastic food packs, but more can still be done by making more policy like making sure all plastic producing companies have an easy accessible recycling method with incentive to encourage users to recycle their plastic.
Personally I feel most of the work will still have to be done by we the citizens and users to make sure plastic pollution is reduce.
In the light of that, I have been doing my own small part by making sure I don't consume single-use plastic sachet water, and drinking water from the tap. I pick up, wash and use the coca cola bottle and other plastic bottles consumed in my street to keep water inside the freezer. I also use plastic food packs to preserve food instead of littering the water bodies with it.

If we can all come together to reduce the consumption and encourage recycling of plastic, our water bodies will become cleaner and safer, the people of the lost city of Atlantis and Aquaman won't attack us, lol .
