Dear Hive... today I met chaos on the board (Hivechess 960)

the penultimate round of the Hivechess tournament has been played and as always we have to review the most important games that were played here.

organised by @stayoutoftherz this week was a very special tournament because we got into a chess variant that I don't play too much

960, which is based on mixing the pieces on the board and start the game from a different starting position than usual, and gives to talk about because you can develop some very bizarre games in the middle of the board.

    black vs fiona

this game mode is equally scary as it is fun, you don't really know where the pieces are going, much less there is opening theory in these games although we still follow the basic principles like dominating the centre or improving your pieces by putting them on the best squares.

it is equally difficult to draw up long term plans, you just have to work out how you can attack the king effectively and for the most part the pawns do a good job of that as we will see in other games.

    white vs amirl

although it looks like chaos on the board it is more than refreshing to be able to think outside the box on new plans to attack the king and improve the pieces, many of my plans were based on the fact that if I had a bishop on some of the side squares I had to put it on a useful diagonal, and although in this game I lost I think I was getting a bit more comfortable in this mode.

    black vs da king

games like these, where I'm practically lost and I build a last ambush are my favorite, being a somewhat different game mode because it can be a little disorienting to move the pieces when they are not in the squares you are used to and do not have the moves they usually have, I think this is my favorite game of this tournament for the way things happened.

Other games had to be cooked a little slower, remember that although we are in a different modality we are still in a Hivechess tournament where there are many players quite strong so lowering our guard, also having the berserk activated could cost us a couple of points and break the streak, in this game I decided to take a tower endgame that I solved in a good way, pure technique to finish.

those are just some of the games I played, many were strange and others didn't last too long but here I leave you a weekly compilation and see you in the next one to play the grand final, I'm still in first place in my division, now I want to climb towards the top category and so I can win it!
