Remember Bitcoin faucets?
Yeah, this image is from 2010 when nobody but a handfull of people knew about Bitcoin.

All you had to do is complete the Capcha and you'd get 5 BTC. No strings attached.
Whoever made it just wanted people to have Bitcoin, learn about Bitcoin and spread the word.
Those days are long gone, of course, but new blockchain technology is being built since then. Sure there are a bunch of useless projects, blockchains, NFTs, DeFi websites and meme tokens, but there are also tools out there that are actually useful. One such tool is the Hive blockchain which is currently in a sort o faucet mode. All you need to do is write some lines and put out your hands to receive free internet money you can go spend on chocolate.
Right?
Well, in the words of comic, Demitri Martin..
Sort of.
Quick side story: Demitri Martin says in his shows that saying "sort of" doesn't really mean anything, but if you say it after certain sentences, it changes everything. For example
You'll live. Sort of
or
It's a boy! sort of.
Haha end side story.
Yes. Hive is currently in distribution mode, which means when someone creates an account and makes a post for the first time, the community comes together to give them a nice California hello, which in case you didn't know, is also the name of a #beer made by Dunloe Brewing Company
But no, Hiveans don't give newcomers the finger, we give them a nice warm welcome with a bunch of comments and some generous upvotes to show them what this place is all about, so maybe they'll keep coming back. Who wouldn't want to come back to a place that rewards you for providing value to the community? Value-for-value.
Of course, many people don't get past surface level and think hey... if I just made $50 for writing an introduction post, and it took me 1 hour to write it, I can write 8 of these per day, 6 days a week, that's $10,000 a month! I'll be rich!!
Not so fast, Scooter.
Dudn't work like that.
In order for it to work, you need two things:
#1 Skin in the game
You need to have some skin in the game. This means that you have to have something to lose. This may be in the form of investing money upfront, or investing time. But you have to be invested in this platform.
#2 Bring value
The great Jim Rohn said this
We get paid for bringing value to the marketplace
ff you make a goal of writing 8 posts a day, are you really putting effort and adding value to your readers? Do you really think Hive citizens are going to vote for your watered down shitpost to get its share of the reward pool, let alone reach into their pockets and give you a tip? The answer is no. People will upvote and tip you for your creations when you add value. Share your knowledge on things you're good at. If you're a designer, make some amazing graphics for free, show people what you're capable of. Make a name for yourself and then start selling your designs to other Hive citizens. Do some freelance work... there are tons of options, but you've got to bring value to get value in return. It's as simple as that.
The Hive faucet is wide open right now, but it won't be forever. There will come a day where the only way of getting Hive tokens will be to exchange them with someone for something else.
Hey man, I'll create a website for your company for 2000 HIVE.
By then, they could very well be worth several United States Dollars a piece.
